NPC Crew takes half combat exp...get rid of that

Hey there,
so I just learned, that NPC crew in fighters take half of the earned combat exp.
I think that's pretty damn bad.. atleast lower it to 20% or something?

I love playing with fighter crew, but the amount of dps and distraction they bring to the battlefield, does not justify
that huge combat exp nerf
And apparently they still take half exp- even if they are leveled to elite. That's just..

I'm a little shocked to be honest, this isn't even stated anywhere...

What? I really don't get your reply.. If it's a remark to the 50% then no.. you are as dangerous as your fighter crew.
Which might be true, if you're rocking the stock pulse lasers and fly with flight assist off while using a broken hotas setup.

I find them usefull in certain situations personally im more interested in Mats than Combat Rep

In fact it may be better to advance ranks more slowly since the opposition gets harder quicker and I want all the grade 5,s I want before that happens.

Is your ship called Serenity?

heres the thing having the ability deploy to fighters incresses your threat and ablility to do damage it should have a negtive drawback.

Sigh.. i will just get rid of my fighter hangar, coz combat rank matters to me right now.
Half exp loss is not justified for the advantage of fighters in my opinion. That's all I'm saying.

I do not mind that the NPC crew shared XP like they do today, but it should stop or be seriouysly reduced once they reached Elite status.

If it is that important just go scout hunting without a SLF for a while till you get Combat Elite.
It's just a participation trophy. Anyone can "earn" it just by playing for a long time, or grinding combat. Does anyone really put stock in those ranks?
Trade, so you know how to make money or mine.
Exploration, so you know how to honk systems.
Combat, so you hang out in CZ's or Haz res'.

Or maybe not, just saying that the Elite rank means very little to a lot of us. I am Combat Elite, but have very little PvP experience. I imagine there are more than a few PvP centric commanders well below Elite rank, that are far above me in combat skill. I have just been killing for longer than they have.

Sort of wish there was a more comprehensive ranking system, for both in game behavior, and accomplishments.
A scorecard if you will for good and bad.
How many commanders you have blasted with ships and experience equal or better than your own, as well as how many unarmed traders/explorers/players with a lot less experience than you, you have killed? How many times have you had a "network disruption" during combat?
That sort of thing. I believe it would change the game quite a bit.

So what you are saying is you dont know how to fight with your NPC? Mine exposes hearts for me before I fly in and snipe them. She is OP lol, but we have been working out hte tactics you know?

I think you are missing the point, if you are going to get Elite rank in Combat, having a NPC crew will seriously slow your progress down. I learned this when I lost my NPC pilot whern I had forgot that I had her onboard, and pushed the limits and I got blown up, this was when we lost our NPC crew when we got blown up, I more than DOUBLED my progress on Deadly when I no longer had any NPC crew. So getting rid of your NPC crew will make a huge difference how fast you will gain progress. It has nothing todo with how you can use NPC crew, as it does not matter if you can kill ships faster, when the limit is how often the high ranked ships spawned, so you are most of the time looking for the next high ranked target anyway, so the time to kill does not really matter, as you most likely will be waiting for the next Deadly and Elite target to spawn, as I found that killing Dangerous was not really worth the effort, as I many times missed a higher ranked target... I never tried Thargoid Scout hunting

My npc makes it easier to kill enemies when she is given the right orders, so it accomplished my goals.

My first comment was a jab at the rank itself. If I made dangerous with an NPC then I am twice as dangerous right? Because I have killed twice the enemies? -- Still I can understand your point of view but a couple of notes:

1) If you fight thargoid scouts they are all elite, so your issue regarding 'finding a highly ranked pilot' does not hold sway there.

2) If you are killing elite ships faster (and taking less damage and other things) you are spending less time with repairs or sheilds or whatever your method is. - In short an NPC means more time in combat in many cases (that being said if it does not fit your playstyle then do not use them)

3) I disagree with it having 'nothing to do with how you use the npc' -- My comment is specifically that. The OP was stating that they do not see a major benefit from NPC's that justify the reduction. -- I was stating that I do. I can see why they take as much of your combat rank. I wouldn't mind I change I guess, but really the title is just a title.

4) I do not think an NPC affects your combat rank when they are not active. Simple solution is to just not use an NPC to grind combat rank, if you feel the need to grind.

But the TLDR version is if you truly feel that if you do not see a benefit from an NPC pilot then you should not lose one.

I have paid mine a few billion credits since the beginning of the year.

I always thought it depending on who did damage and how much, same as if you are in a wing.

So if you are both have done damage within a certain amount of time before the target died, then its shared. If one or the other isn't doing damage then the XP goes to whoever did.

AFAIK, it works the same for NPC pilots and wings. I could be totally wrong about this, but when i've been hammering NPCs and my own NPC hasn't had much chance to do damage they seem to get no XP.

If i leave them to deal with the targets they seem to get XP a lot faster.

I'm not trying to deny the usefulness of NPC crew. On the contrary, I love their utility & what they bring to the fight.
My NPC pilot is deadly and she sure knows how to fly a squishy imperial fighter.

Despite that, I gain rank alot faster when I leave her at Jameson. And I think thats a bummer.
(for context, I'm flying a fully engineered krait and usually don't have any problems in haz rez/c beacon/conflict)

The usefulness of combat rank is debatable, but the point is that my progress slows down quite a bit when I have a fighter out.
I don't mind sharing xp with my crew, but 50% is to much imo.
