NPC Cruise Ships.....

Ok I though the "wedding barges" were annoying. The constant stream of " Three cheers for the happy couple" or "I don't know if I can go through with this..". A vain effort by FD to inject life, variety or immersion into an other words cookie cutter galaxy. I went as far to spend a week or so hunting down and destroying every wedding barge that dared flood the local chat with the same overused dialog I've seen for the past 2 years.

The new 2.2 NPC Cruise Liners take the cake though. Long paragraphs of text often repeating the same thing over and over back to back. Damn near make it impossible to have a chat in SC in open with other commanders. I mean what was the exact thought process FD was having when they came up with this idea? I mean at least give us the option to turn it off.

Thoughts? Concerns? Demascus your home go drunk? [noob]

P.S.
Not adding polls, polls are dumb

Let's go to war on the spamming npc's

I am waiting for kill missions, where you need to Manifest scan a Cruise ship to confirm the target is a passenger on board

Actually...
I'd be okay with that Cruise Ships spam, if they were limited to Systems with Tourist Beacons.

Personally, the Text Spam I'd like reduced would be from my own Crew NPCs.
No idea how many human Messages I missed because my NPCs spammed hundreds of fully redundant lines there :p

A better question is where are these damn "stewardess" the cruise liner npcs keep yammering on about and why don't we have those?

Or if the Chatter pulled [System Name] and [Star Port name] so the cruise ships chatter referenced the system they were in, and the port they were going to

To me this chatter makes no sense.
Like ship internal comms that accidentally got broadcasted to the entire system.

Elite is weird in many ways, these "I'm announcing to the entire star system that I can't go through with the wedding" messages are odd and appear out of place.
Babbies first program using text output with randomized phrases and QA forgot to take it out before the game went live.

Yep, the chat spam annoys me as well. I guess it's supposed to add "flavor" or something, but all it does is bother me. It's too repetitive to be interesting, and has zero context. And it makes no sense that these ships would be broadcasting their internal comms to the universe.

I'd turn it off if I could.

FD seem to put many things like this in the game to add "atmosphere" even though they make little sense. Like for instance how and why do surface bases on airless worlds have functioning PA systems?
