Community Event / Creation NPC Dialog Crowdsourcing Project

Here's your chance to increase the diversity of what the NPCs have to say for themselves in game. Post some chatter text for NPCs, along with a bit of context. Example:

"Aww, come one! I'm only hauling Food Cartridges!" - Trader hauling low value cargo, upon interdiction by non-authority ship.

I'll edit the OP as posts come in and try and keep things grouped together.

By posting on this thread, you grant Frontier Developments a perpetual license to use and modify your fiction in its products without royalty or attribution.

"You have no idea who you're messing with. I'm in the <insert criminal faction name here>" - upon interdicting or scanning member of criminal faction.
"Call that a laser? THIS is a laser!" - NPC whose craft has much larger hardpoints than its attacker
"Mother!!!" - Low ranked NPC upon reaching 0% hull
"I'm going to enjoy this much more than you will" - High ranked, high power NPC upon being attacked
"Don't shoot. Here, take this and let me go!" - Low ranked NPC trader with no shields, upon declaring piracy
"I have three wives and ten children back on <insert random nearby system and planet name>" - defenseless/outclassed NPC trader

I don't care who you are, but I heard you were looking for that coward [target name] who killed my wing man without warning.
My sources tell me he hides in [system name]. I'd be pleased to see his dead body flying through the void.

You're looking for that traitor [target name]? Well, you're not alone. You might join our search in [target system]. The more people hunt this sucker down the better.

I came to give you a message from [target name]. He's knows you're after him and he'll be waiting for you in [target system] to settle this once and forever. You better pack some big guns, commander.

You must be a maniac to hunt someone as dangerous as [target name], I was stupid enough to try and nearly lost my life. Have a look in [target system], I saw him go there.

Who I am is none of your business. Let's just say I won't be sorry to see [target name] dead but I'm not crazy enough to try it myself. He's been spotted in [target system]. Good luck.

Ah, it's you! My boss told me to give you an update on [target name]. We know for sure he's in [target system]. Now go and do your job!

Hey, you've been hired to kill [target name], not to go sightseeing. Get off your a*se and do your business. He's in [target system]. Now hurry up, he won't be there for too long.

Honorable Commander, my master ordered me to help you by investigating the whereabouts of [target name]. I am glad to tell you that I found some evidence that person was heading to [target system]. Godspeed, Sir!

Greetings Commander. So you are the hired gun, eh? Well, police found [target name] in [target system], but could not take him out. He might still be there. Hurry up!

"Too much too young", "Oops I did it again", "I am the Walrus", "Let the bodies hit the floor", "Staying Alive!", "I'm too sexy for my <sidewinder>", "16 tons", "How d'you like me now?", "I've never been lost", "I'm on my way to be initiated", "Hope you got insurance 'cos I'm hitting your store!", "I got Jonny Jehovah three times in the face"

Reactions to being fired upon:

Why you no-good, low-down, cotton-picking, Thargoid-ridden, whisky-soused, brandy-snatched, bogey-flicking, lettuce-munching, biowaste-eating, dope-pushing, drabble-writing son of a smear test.

Oh, I say! Steady on.

You, sir, are a cad, sir.

Crikey.

Oh dear. What a bore.

Is this an Adder I see before me?

To be or not to be? You're gonna find out, Horatio.

You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe!

Ooh, spank me, spank me.

Your fly is undone.

I can see this guy is from a place where they don't have a vaccine for stupidity.

"This is a local outpost, for local people"

The problem with many of these is that they're not procedural. The NPCs are neither persistent nor do they have any kind of situational awareness. They can only mutter a non-specific threat or statement.

None of this logic will work.

Game should be able to tell whether a small ship is firing on a large one, look in a list of nearby systems/planets, know what kind of cargo a player has- ("Drop a canister of <commodity> and I'll forget you were here."), etc. A lot of good writing here imo and we need more in the way of context sensitive communication. Give the AI a sense that they actually have a clue about what's going on, that they're making decisions based on the immediate situation.

Good stuff, love to see some of this make it into the game

"Stop exploding you cowards" - transport pilot when one of their escorts is destroyed in combat.

:D
