Doesn't happen often, but once in a while the Game makes me laugh hard :D

Hopped into a Mining Belt in a heavy Mining Rig, only to see a FAS NPC Pirate spawn.
Now just blowing it up would be boring... So a CON-ing plan was needed.

Plan : Scam the Pirate NPC

Method :
- deploy all Collector Limpets
- accept and comply to the NPC's demand for Cargo
- Dump 40tons of Limpets
- grab popcorn
- hilarity ensues
- start Mining run with minimal loss of Limpets, no shots fired ;)

Turns out - the FAS is an agile Ship... but no match in a scooping battle against 6 Collector Limpets ;)

Can you explain in a bit more detail exactly what's happening?

What happens is a flaw in the NPC logic.
It demands Cargo, and Cargo it got, that's the Script Trigger for it not to enage you or cease fire ;)

Problem is : it doesn't even fail to realize it's a Trap! really (hence the funny comments), it just fails to react properly to the obvious scam :D
(your own Collectors grab your jettisoned Cargo right back in much faster than the NPC could manually scoop it, yet the NPC remains strangely satisfied ; acting all annoyed but it doesn't do anything about it)

Bottom line is :
- you can get out of Trouble with any Pirate NPCs demanding your Cargo
- at minimal loss of actual Cargo
- just need to scoop it right back up after dumping it (Ship needs at least one Collector Limpet)
- setting up a fast FA OFF rotation before dumping Cargo in volume causes less NPC-Canister collisions (more surviving Canisters, as they're spread out along a circle due to the rotation)
- NPC-Canister Collisions apparently make the NPC cease scooping attempts rather quickly

To me, it's mostly a funny alternative to deal with the obligatory Pirate NPC(s) I get when entering a Mining belt - and am technically forced to fight over meaningless Limpets otherwise.

I like how he's increasingly whiny and accusing you of stealing your own stuff. :D

So after that he just left?

Yeah, kinda... the NPC remained in the Area and flew for about ~3 min amongst the Asteroids while I was mining around and collecting Platinum already (looking for another Target I guess). But it eventually jumped out :D
