NPC "Glad I've Found You" Messages

I'm getting quite a lot of the "There you are glad I've found you" messages from NPC's.

How do I find out what they want, as I can't seem to communicate with them ?

Follow them out of supercruise when they state they're dropping down (or something like that). You'll get an alternative mission for a rival minor faction.

Select them in the contacts list. They drop out of super cruise leaving a low energy wake. Stay targeted on the wake. Move to the wake and drop out of super cruise in exactly the same way you do on a USS. They'll be there in normal space with something to say. The only time I did this they were a bit incoherent but I've heard that you might get a secondary mission.

I just find them annoying. I mean fine to have them turn up for the occasional mission but it seems 90% of the missions I pick up I get some stalker wanting to have a "chat". I feel its a good addition spoiled by overuse.

Another FD , they appear so commonly that they become annoying. And when you DO follow out to hear message, the deal is always not worth consideration, decline in Rep and pityful in cash.

Come again, FD.

Cheers Cmdr's

Agree that these missions are not worth it. You would think that if someone would go to all the effort of tracking you down in the hopes of interfering with your current mission, they would be throwing more money at you to make it worth your while.

These guys frequently tell me "I've been looking for you! Please follow me, I need to speak to you. I'm dropping out, please follo-" and then they fly straight into the star and emergency drop.

I concur, if you take multiple missions it frankly feels like being spammed. Shame because I like the idea of branching missions, but as you say it should happen occasionally, not instantly for every mission whenever you enter supercruise.

Have to agree with this. It happens way too often. Branching missions are good, but it's way too repetitive and the outcomes and branches are also quite repeatable.

Of course the current system is only a basis for the full fledged more complex mission system for the future updates, but at the moment this aspect it's definitely overused.

Had to do a 200,000+ LS trip last night... 5 Of them wanted to talk to me so on the 5th time I interdicted him and showed him how much I wanted to talk to him, with lasers.

If this is how the extended mission system is going to work then it's a fail already.

Well, in all fairness it's more believable than the previous way of getting mission branches, which was to drop into a random USS and have some guy who just happened to be there give you the alternate path. THAT made no sense to me whatsoever. If they make this a lot less common then it would be a pretty decent replacement for the old USS way of doing it.

Oh yeah, definitely an improvement to the previous system and like I've said (following what the devs have said of course) the new, overhauled system is only a basis for the more sophisticated one they can work on now that the base is done.

This gets really funny when you have 20+ missions in the system. 20+ships spawn when you jump in and send you a message.

Some variables need to be tweaked CONSIDERABLY:

1. the frequency of them spawning needs to be decreased.
2. the amount of money provided, or at least the chance of a high score once in a while (as well as negative rep) needs to be improved. By a LOT.
(+3. if taken the original faction should send out either assassins or sabotagers depending on the value of the mission. Could be cool to be interdicted by a conda and some fast Cobras sent out to simply leave you with 1% hull and make you limp home...)

This would make it interesting and viable to follow the targets to see if it really is worth it and calculate the risk versus reward.
