NPC Pirates, the right way

Being able to communicate with them would be good.

Though I would probably use a different turn of phrase than threatening to eat their bones clean, greenhorn.

Its 100% good, the poor thing is that you can chose to mine where a cmdr will not find you. The NPC's however just turn up as they are not random

That's great. I love NPCs that are more than mere cannon fodder or quest signposts. Of course it would be even better if the dialogue went like this:

<James Melin>What treats doth thou carry?
<James Melin>Release any cargo and I may let thee live.
<James Melin>I'll pick thy bones clean, greenhorn.
<James Melin>Just the cargo I was looking for.

This is how pirates are supposed to behave. Not ones that blow people up with empty cargo.

If only the commander traders would drop cargo instead of this "run of die trying" mentality. I've yet to have a commander stop and give up any loot. Some will learn eventually.
