Newcomer / Intro NPC Pythons

Is it me, or do NPC Pythons have magic turning power ? I mean I can't outmaneuver them with my Viper.. they are always head on with me.. No matter what I try. Until I get through their shields they do something different.

I use lateral and vertical thrusters... so I dunno what else I can try.

It's magic. Or the NPC is flying with Flight Assist Off, allowing tighter manoeuvring. Same for the way well handled NPC Anacondas turn.
