I fought a wing of 7 yesterday.
My poor Clipper was bleeding when I left, entrails hanging out everywhere. Thank Thor for new repair prices.

The funeral Type 9s are in a 6 ship wing. They are cheating

Yep, I came across an Anaconda with 6 escorts. I killed an Eagle and a Sidey then ran with my tail between my legs after the police viper wing had also been destroyed.

NPC Wings doesn't have the limit set at 4 like players do.

A wing of 4 anacondas might do rather well i imagine.
Plus it adds some life the to galaxy, there should always be encounters that are completley out of your 'scope of operations', keeps things interesting.

first time out in 1.2.
found what i thought was a USS.
saw 10 crates of gold.
hurray free money.
then i hear "i cant believe he fell for that"
pop - about 12 full spec monsters appear and proceed to blow the stuffing out of me
only just escaped
1.2 is scary now - oh and my shields dont work now lol - guess they have to be boosted or something now

encountered several wings yesterday night, i recall seeing several 5 wing and even a 6 wing, all at a (pretty busy) nav beacon.
they were "small" ships however, mostly sidewinders witha few cobras and vipers
I found 7 at a strong signal source. It was 7 vultures and i ran for my life in my viper. They got my shields down in no time. It was fun.
got interdicted in my viper by a pirate npc wing of 5, a python and atleast 3 other small crafts, the 5th was unknown... my luck was that python had no shields, and the others never attacked me. not until i attacked one of them...
it will get a little harder i guess when npc wingmates attack instead of just fly around doing not much, as they currently do sometimes
