NPC Ranking Speed Discussion

I'd like to ask, are you happy with the following figures on levelling your AI wingman?

This is based on the 15-20 kills it took me to level a pilot from Harmless to Mostly Harmless.

RankKills LowKills HighTotal LowTotal High
Harmless15201520
Mostly Harmless30404560
Novice6080105140
Competent120160225300

Dangerous960128019052540
Deadly1920256038255100
Elite38405120766510220

Please correct me if my guesses are wrong, I've done them quickly in excel in about 2 minutes.

I have two points I'd like to say on this...

1) If your wingman can die, even from an accident or ingame bug, you could loose months/years of work. There should be a way to save them or they shouldn't die outright.

2) Wingmen should have "experience" rather than a kill count. Kills should count of course, but those Traders & Explorers among us should feel like we are investing in our pilots as well, therefore I believe they should also rank up by either time spent with a pilot, or money earned.

Based on this thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...Elite-Rank-Requirements-Combat-Trade-Explorer

It does look like they have the same requirements as players, but they have Iron Man mode on...

Combat (CR / Kills)
-----------------------------------------
HARMLESS: 0 / 0
MOSTLY HARMLESS: 152,167 ~ 250,000 / 15
NOVICE: 500,000 ~ 750,000 / 75
COMPETENT: 1,717,370 ~ 3,500,000 / 172 ~ 400
EXPERT: 5,022,829 ~ 8,000,000 / 450 ~ 750
MASTER: 11,437,575 / 1,100 ~ 1,253
DANGEROUS: 42,000,000 / 2,100 ~ 2,600 [4,335]
DEADLY: Unknown / 4,200
ELITE: Unknown / 8,600 ~ 8,750

Yeah, I was thinking about this. Its going to be a major bummer if you lose a pilot after 12 months of them taking 12 to 15 % of your profits.
Has anybody thought about just parking in a high res site all night and let your pilot auto rank. set to defend :)

I imagine that could be possible if you sat there with some cargo. You'd have to be confident in your pilots abilities though!

does the share they take increase as they rank up ?

Yes, but at a lower (half I think) rate than if you were to hire them directly at the rank they are.

I will need to do more to test the rate at which that happens but I don't think it's so much that sitting there and giving 10000 commands is going to be a great ranking strategy.

Knowing the players of Elite, a mindless grind, clicking to give your pilot orders sounds right up their street ;)
