NPC ships teaming up/cooperating when faced with threat/stiff opposition or challenging task.

Lately its been talked a lot about the difficulty of the AI of the NPC ships. It all boils down to that the NPCs are to easy. Sarah is working on this and making the AI better with every update, thats nice.
But people are still complaining about lone Eagles and Sidewinders attacking their FDL or Cobra with threats like death and murder only to be blown into space dust into the void.
What about making a hunter class of bounty hunter and pirates which will team up if they feel they are stronger together. Lets say you are in a NAV beacon and a lone Sidewinder shows up, it scans you but doesn´t attack. Because the AI understand that it will become space dust if it tries to. Then a lone Cobra and Eagle shows up. They are all pirates, they recognize each other and team up with the Sidewinder into a wing of 3 craft and suddenly attacks you. They are now stronger and will try to take you on.

Is it possible to make this kind of Ai, and to make NPC ships team up like this into a wing? Both in Super cruise and in NAV beacons, RES signals.
This can turn no threat situations into a threat in mere seconds and will have you to take appropriate measures.

I think this can enhance game play if its done right. What do you think?

Isn't this already the case? I've seen many NPCs just run away from me, even after scanning my cargo (full of precious things); considering they have no chance against me.

Not running away but teaming up. I dont think ive seen a pirate or bounty hunter run in fear from me. I mean that lone ships wait around until they find a suitable ship to team up with. Then they create a wing, chat a little and attack you. Advantage in numbers :)

NPCs do run away. If you blast the big boy in an NPC wing (e.g. Clipper), the bodyguards (e.g. Cobras) will run and jump. I'm pretty sure they call for / receive reinforcements as well (assassination targets do). The only behaviour that resembles 'teaming up' is when you misread a CZ battlefield, take the wrong call, and end up alone in a swarm of enemies. Cost me 7 mil in insurance last time around.

I cannot even begin to describe how psyched I am for the testers-reported improved AI in 1.3 though.

Ai is better in 1.3 but not good enough yet. We need NPC which can beat us and hunt us down. If its possible :p
