NPCs and compass HUD on-foot

Hello fellow CMRs,

I am pretty new to Odyssey, so a lot to learn through try and error, forums, YT-videos etc.

One thing, I haven't figured out is this:
Sometimes an NPC appears in the on-foot compass at the top of the screen, including distance, which is a valuable information.
However, most of the times it does not, only a triangle in the radar on the left, which has no distance indicator.
Do you know the reason for the different appearance?

If you tag them using a terminal, it'll show them on the compass and mark them on your HUD even if you can't see them.

Otherwise, the specific person that's highlighted on the compass is a mission-giver NPC who may have a job for you.

Thank you.
I don't think I have tagged one during my settlement looting experiments (all failed so far:ROFLMAO:)
I'll check, whether or not it is a mission-giver NPC.

Can confirm, it is a mission-giver NPC.
Thanks again

If you go to the terminal you will find you can see all the personnel and tag the one you are after, an essential part of many missions, specially delivery and pickup missions, oh and assassination missions. My adventures in looting in the past have actually been to look in the system for settlements that have power restore missions, they are often empty and you can loot everything you want, I never bother taking the missions, I just use that to find the settlements that are ripe for looting.

This is helpful!
Thank you
