NPC's are ruining this game!

Hi Cmdrs,

So I had just 3 types of commodities in y hold ready for an upgrade but I needed some ore so for the very first time I decided to try mining.:D

Just got started in a high security system in a low res site and immediately was jumped by 3 wanted ships, tried to run but was mass locked by the asteroids and could not get away before it was destroyed.

All I wanted was a peaceful time mining......

These npc interdictions have ruined this game for me, I will not rage quite but INHO this issue needs dealing with before 2.2 is released!

For those of us who want to trade, smuggle, mine etc the game is a nightmare of combat after combat and it is making me totally frustrated and considering getting a different game altogether.

Which is a shame as I have been playing since beta.

Ok, a couple of tips for you about mining:

1) Mining "pristine reserve" planet rings will yield better fragments than a low res site. There are 3rd party sites that will point you the way to go if you don't know where to go.
2) NPC's will always spawn when you first enter the asteroid field. Boost away from your entry point for quite a way and they won't bother you any more... or if you don't have anything in your cargo bay (limpets are Ok) let them scan you first. They'll then go away disappointed.

NPCs are way too engagement happy in high-sec systems. They're just bugs splatting on my Python's windscreen but a couple minutes wasted is still a waste of time.

I recall actually muttering aloud "Damn Zubats" a few times last time I played.

You don't have to drop into the RES itself. You can drop anywhere within the ring to mine. You may have an NPC drop about the same time as you, but mostly it is quite.

Hi Cmdr's,

Thanks for the replies.

I was just testing to get used to mining so at first I did just drop into a random location as a test.

Didn't even get to start mining before I was jumped by npc's, I got away... just.

So I tried the low res in the hope of police support... nope.

Well I will try boosting away next time as now I don't have anything in my cargo bay and my credits are down by another 6 mill, you just got to love this game...NOT.

Like a model, this game looks good, but is actually an imbecile when it comes to gameplay mechanics. In fact, there are very few PC or SFW adjectives I can use to describe the ... oops... stunted logic that powers this game and especially the NPCs. Security level is meaningless. The game uses a simple childish score system to generate the enemies regardless of geopolitical background and region.

not if you're mass locked in the rings.

If you have anything other then limpets in your cargo when you first drop in a spot, you'll be attacked.

I always drop in, and just sit and wait. npc shows up, scans me, and leaves. then it's smooth sail... errr.. mining until you fill your hold.

Did have one time I got dc'd while mining. as soon as I logged in, npc's were waiting for me. kind of hard to get out of the rings' mass lock in a type 6

NPC spawn are placeholders, as 80% of the game.

The spawn has no sense at all, you arrive to a system with 0 npc then a second later the message pop up saying "I will interdict you" then npc spawn randomly and then the interdiction dance and minigame happens. Its clear a placeholder, It can't be serious.

The fact that there's always an npc that spawns on you when you drop into a ring now is a dumb as anything I can think of in the game. No problem at all with the concept that sometimes there will be an npc there but as things stand now it's just lame. It's not causing me any problems when I go mining, I drop in, kill the npc and then mine away, but it does mean that I've had to take one of the mining lasers off my mining Python and lose significant cargo space to put a shield on it. All this, coupled with the nuisance of materials dropping from asteroids and screwing with my limpets, plus the new (and utterly worthless) resources introduced in 2.1 adds up to a fairly significant hit to credits per hour from mining, which was hardly an occupation that was in need of a nerf to profitability to begin with.

If they're looking to add another new resource in 2.2, I'd suggest they're just up-front about things and call it Tedium.
