NPCs can use Engineers modified weapons for Elite: Dangerous 1.6

I think people overlook that there are people who don't have 64 bit operating systems and therefore physically can't have Horizons. It's not always a matter of just not buying it.

I am starting to think that a few posters are throwing the baby out with the bathwater. These new weapons are small improvements on the existing ones. They allow customisation and to make your ship the way you want it - npcs don't have the ability to plan their equipment the way you do, having either (semi-)random or predefined builds.

I have no modder equipment in the beta, the npcs are slightly tougher, but only because they don't do their suicide-pirouette any more. I got hit by concussion in my eagle and heat in the vette. Eagle had troubles I admit, since it was unarmed, unarmoured and nearly unshielded, but the vette had no problems with anything (except catching that pesky FdL).

So please reign in the doom and gloom, the game is perfectly playable without engineering.

Calling an expansion pay 2 win? I got an idea, just don't add anything to the expansion that modifies you ship or bank account, since it would offer an advantage others lack? Would save a lot of development costs too.</sarcasm>

I can understand if someone has critism, like the fleeing npcs, the rng, how time consuming the whole process is - I'm on the fence myself for some things - but take a step back and look at the whole picture. Just because some things are unavailable unless you buy the expansion does not make it pay 2 win, it makes it a paid expansion.

This thread in unbelievable... 2.1. Is very good,it changes the game in good ways, and people mentioning pay2win are just delusional.

Get 64bit os, get horizons, simple... With 2.1. its worth the buy for sure, especially with at least 2.2. coming this year.
If you dont wanna buy horizons be happy you got more stuff for free.

If FD make changes like this than they have to deal with differnet opinions, just because i have not
bought into this season means not that i will not buy the next one.
Some of you wrote that this change will turn ED into pay2win, here are my toughts about this:

Is fighting against a player with a joystick and a throttle a advantage vs. someone
with mouse and keyboard.

My opinion is yes, its pay2win BUT luckily ED has solo play and private groups so this advantage can be fixed.

This example can be extend to engineer player vs vanilla player(lets say using a cobra mk III),
the fleeing mechanic will not work here because of the engineer (thruster) modules.

And again we have a pay2win situation but luckely noone is forced to play in open so this can be fixed.

Now to NPCs can use Engineers modified weapons.
Some player will maybe look at this as a challenge, me not!
Why should a solo player for example fight a NPc boss level 50 if its only possible to upgrade a ship with the valilla to max level 25.
No joystick and a throttle advantage here for better flight maneuvers and not into kamikaze playstyle, also
insurance/playtime ratio is not worth the risk.
Thanks that i have not read NPCs can use Engineers modified modules for now so its possible to flee if you fly a fast ship.

On the other hand, a horizon player with his engineers weapon will like this challenge and a horizon player without
engineers weapon has the option to upgrade it, but the vanilla player not.

So whats with the vanilla player.
Buy horizon to at least have a option.
Fly at least only the fastest vanilla ships so your ship wont blow up in seconds if you encounter
a NPC with engineers modified weapons.

Is the pay2win argument fluently here and may I remind that FD said that noone will be forced to buy into horizon if this
season is not what you are looking for.
