NPC's IS it just me?

Been back on game for around a month now, medical kept me from the black and was happy to return :)
EXCEPT TONIGHT!!
Have seen all the blurb on 'Exceptions/cashmaking etc' and wish I'd managed to get in on them because now the NPC's are massively OP!!, this evening alone it has cost me nearly 1M creds for repairs just from running away from them!, saw a USS that said 'Distress call, threat level 2' so I thought I'll pop in and see if I can help, NOT A G CHANCE!! 3xmaster and higher Anacondas that immediately turned on me and all I saw were blue streaks as I tried to run away!!, another was a 'Weapons fire, threat 1' got my rear end handed to me by a 'Master' in a Vulture!!! whats going on we can't make creds but we have to run like timid little mice around the black in case we end up back in a Sidey???? World of Warcraft grinding doesn't seem so bad now at least you don't lose all the hard work you've put in to it!!!
Have seen a few Cmdrs discussing taking time out of game untill this gets sorted!, personally I don't want to but if I'm gonna lose all my ships/creds I can't see a point in playing can someone tell me whats going on with them please???

I agree that at many occasions in "thread 1" or "thread 2" Situations 3,4 or even 5 ships attack. Maybe they used the signal as a trap? I can imagine that for small ship traders those attacks are deadly.
I even had a "3 wave attack" with three attacks by 3 ship packs directly after another.

I don't sweat the small stuff anymore in my new ugraded Alliance Chieftan with 3 efficient beams and 3 overcharged MCs. Dropped into one of those faux Threat 2 signal sights, a wing of 3 Vultures attacked immediately. HA....tore then a new hiney, was working the last one when security showed up, think I only had to use one shield cell booster. Love that ship, although, its not one for the conflict zones, but as a bh or just all around mission ship, its great

Sorry for diverging a bit, but I'd like to react to your assertion : Chieftain is not a one for conflict zone. I do have the exact opposite experience I'd like to share.

To me it's just a matter of ships loadout AND combat tactics, and my Chieftain absolutely rocks in CZ (in fact it has way better results than my Corvette or my Cutter), and I insist on my, not because I'm egotic, but because I assume different players will obtain different results using different loadout and tactics.
The Chieftain is Agile and fast, so it can easily be used for boom and zoom tactics (often seen as jousting). Hull Tanking gives you an extra kinetic hardPoint with the hability of successfully ramming up to Corvette and Cutter (so no room for Shield Cell Bank here).
Instead I do use a biWeave Shield (and 3 Heavy boosters)
And the weapons are OC 5 Frag Cannons only, mixing incendiary & corrosive rounds (Gimballed)

You can down a Corvette in 2 or 3 pass depending on wether you ram it or not.
FGS and Dropship can be insta-killed in 1 frontal Pass, you shoot it from 500 M that kill shield weaken hull and the ramming pass get the rid of remaining hull => Boom
Even the so annoying Viper don't last long.

The hardest ship I fought was a FdL (which is agile, strong shields and small hitbox)

So definitely my most efficient ship in a CZ is the Chieftain.

Sounds dangerous.

From the Core Dynamics Operators Manual

"'Threat level' is a prediction from your ships computer, based complicated algorithms of a number of factors, including signal strength, local political and economic conditions, recent historical experience, the ship's own health and strength status, and the mental, physical and intoxicate state of the pilot.

Core Dynamics inc (IT dept) take no responsibility for being occasionally utterly wrong "
