NPCs jumping away with no health

First I'd like to say thank you for fixing the bug where Feds would attack you for attacking a wanted ship friendly with their faction.

But I'd like to turn FD's attention to whatever it is that allows NPCs to not only jump away unaffected by mass lock, but doing so with 0% hull, power plant, FSD, etc.
Making money at Nav Beacons is hard as is already. When a 60K Python shows up and starts a fight then jumps away after I unload hundreds of rounds into it, I can't help but feel discouraged from continuing to play, especially when it happens time and time again with different ships of varying sizes.

So I'm asking if someone on the team could at least look into it.
