npcs targeting the cockpit

anyone else noticing it ? lol like 3rd time fighting wing of 5 that they attacked the cockpit lol everything else was at 95-98% but lol cockpit was 44% which seems to break the glass out lol kill them and ran to a station before air ran out :p new npc sidewinder tactic?

What are you flying?
Ive never even gone below 98%
Or did it just happen once and now we tellin stories in the tavern?

Twas this big I swears it....

Why would they choose Cockpit over PP or FSD? You'd still be able to escape in time. Are they supposed to be stupid?
It's been found that targeting PP on small ships is harder due to other modules getting in the path. Yet they can hit the Drive easy enough. There should be a good reasoning tactic to what to target. What and where is this?

Many readers don't speak teenager and need this translated. What do "lol like", "lol cockpit", "lol kill", and ":p new" mean?

it has happened 3 times to my vulture , every thing else barely damaged except cockpit very damaged to the point where it blows out very fun trying to fly to the station in super cruise with the hole in the center of your hud :p

well maybe the internet is not for you if you think these things are new , maybe conversations where you have no useful input are better off without you as well

possibly its because you fly backwards and shoot them. giving them a clear view of your cockpit the whole time? I believe they cannot target sub systems yet.

not been flying backwards , but they do tend to do that turn and charge you thing which might cause some of it but seems very high amount of hits to the window compared to every where else all things considered when fighting 5 ships

Keep manouvering, don't go head on where possible. In other words, don't let them shoot at your cockpit. Also may depend on what ship you are flying. They might not specifically be targetting your cockpit. According to SJA AI follow the same rules as players (except for some small things to do with ammo) so they shouldn't be able to target it. But if you are in a Vulture (for example) which has a big cockpit, it may be more just they are targetting something like the powerplant... which is behind the cockpit.

NPC don't target the cockpit, but some ships have exposed or relatively large cockpits which are often hit in combat as ships in combat often wind up facing each other.

If you are in a ship with a particularly vulnerable cockpit, don't let your shields fail.

NPCs have aimbot, report plz.

But yea, NPCs behave weird at the moment. While they are somewhat effective, they will never be able to kill me. Instead of getting me in their line of fire, they will continously avoid to get in mine. Even though if that means that they will never hit me once, resulting in an annoying circle dance that never ends unless something interupts the dance.

Yea, NPCs still need some improvement :D

The Vulture has been often reported to have a weak cockpit. I only lost the cockpit in other ships once but several times in the Vulture. All the ships have their own peculiarity. In my Vulture I now have a 25 minute life support.

lol indeed and also miaow

Well, as far as the Vulture goes, I always ran when my shields were dropping.

However, if I was a cheeky AI designer, I would get them to target the cockpit. Because of the above, it takes a long time for many players to Feel The Cold Touch, and it's a very much adrenaline-pumping experience for the first time... :D

But in all honesty, I think it is just because you're getting the damage head-on, and the cockpit is right there in the middle.

i dont think npc shoot at subtargets at all... they damage subsystems is just coincidence
in a python they often hit my pp for its placed in the center of my ship. in a vulture they often get my cockpit for its quite big compared to shipszise.

I believe some do aim for the canopy, but only at a specific AI level, yet to test it though.

NPCs don't shoot cockpits. Cockpit damage happens when ships are firing at each head-on after losing shields.

It's not only forward facing, I've lost my DBS & Vulture canopy multiple times to turrets while chasing.

They don't target any subsystems, let alone the cockpit which isn't even on the subsystem list we have available as live players.
