Newcomer / Intro Number of rolls increased to 9 for grade 1-4 engineering upgrades?

Has the number of rolls needed for G1-G4 engineering effects been increased recently?
I'm engineering Multicannon with Tod and I just used 8 rolls to complete a G2 upgrade. I thought the max needed for G1-G4 was only 3 rolls (and 9 for G5). Anyone else seeing this?
I thought I had everything I needed for getting all the way to G5, but no. Back to farming it seems.

Only the first time through an engineer's mod takes many rolls per level. Once you have worked up to level 5 access with the engineer then it only takes the single for G1, 2 or 3 for G2 etc - up to the G5 which can at times extract the urine with maybe 9 rolls to fully complete. (That last little gap on G5 is so annoying!)

OK, thanks. I'm also reading that there is no need to complete G1 before starting G2. Once G2 unlocks, just move to that and don't complete G1. I didn't realise you could skip completing a grade.

Yes you can start rolling as soon as the grade unlocks, the only reason to keep rolling is if you have no immediate plans to do the next grade, because you are short of mats or the negative effects at the next level are too high or because you only wanted to engineer to apply a special effect.
