Probably a rubbish idea but could be cool to have some sort of numberplates showing where you bought your ship or just alliance imperial or federation.

I quite like the idea of incorporating a code into the ship's ident based on the location and time of purchase. After all we're still going to have to MOT the things every once in a while
Nice idea. You could tell how 'accident prone' a Commander was by how old his ship is.
I don't think it's a rubbish idea at all. (As an aside: I love being able to use British terms like 'rubbish' and 'Bob's your uncle' on this board!)
Little things like that are exactly the stuff that fleshes out the experience. It doesn't all have to be massive changes like big game hunting and cloaking devices!

i agree, the devil is in the details and details can add a lot to the game but...
location of purchase fine, date of purchase? not so keen on the idea - i don't want people knowing if i just bought a shiny new ship

I'd like to see different numberplates too.
Perhaps for a Federation ship - like the US has different ones for each state (and some states have multiple variations) - lots of different colours and fonts but all a regulation size and shape.
Imperials get European-type plates, fairly standard, just different system identifiers at the side.
Alliance peeps will have to make do with a number scrawled in biro on a bit of cardboard tied on with bailer twine

Let's not forget the classic "said the acress to the bishop", so much more dignified than "that's what she said"
Some kind of registration number could be a nice detail for the game.
Is it my memory playing tricks on me or wasn't there a sort of registration number associated with the ships in Frontier?
