Hardware & Technical nvidia 970 at 4k

greetings commanders,

i am pretty set on buying the GTX970, but i need to choose a monitor.
either 4k (which is up to 60hz)
or 1440p 144hz g-sync

yes, the res vs frame rate trade-off.
can anyone provide fps on either UHD resolution using 970 ?

GTX Titan@1084MHz @2560x1440 - about 60-70FPS at the station.

Hi Errant

, I have a 970, and down sampling to 1080p from 4k gives me 20-30 FPS in stations, and around 50 FPS in space (40 in an asteroid field) with everything on max settings except anti-aliasing.

As far as I understand you are using DSR and are down sampling to 1920x1080 from 4K?

Yes... I don't know if there's a performance hit or not compared with displaying it on a 4 k monitor. Interstingly, I've found that ED wouldn't load into stations etc properly after uninstalling the GeForce experience, unless I reset to the default graphics options by deleting the graphics xml and validating files. I reinstalled GeForce, and everything works fine again

At 1440p everything runs at 60+ FPS. I have vsync enabled so don't know by how much.

970 dsr from 1440 to 1080 rock solid 60.

thanks all.
(dumb question warning) if you are downsampling from 4k to 1080, so I could expect similar performance at 4k resolution ?
or better cos it wont have to downsample? or worse cos it actually outputs all dem pixels?

Quick google-fu exercise told that you should expect similar performance at the 4k resolution (AA off) you're downsampling from.
