Nvidia driver issues in VR may finally be over

(not everyone had issues but some did)

I finally got some new drivers which worked last night... the newest NV ones i previously had to use onces from december last year

I updated last night to the newest windows build as well as the newest drivers and instantly noticed a performance improvement. it seems to me the issues are finally over.

Good to hear. My Win10 just got all the new updates and I will check with Nvidia.

Currently I am still using my vive in my lounge (room space size) and playing roomspace type games. Have to drag the computer back into the ManRoom and reset everything up at my desk before I can play Elite.

Just installed these, and I didn't get a black screen in the Rift, which I can't say for the last three versions, so that's encouraging. I've been noticing the hitches in supercruise a lot; are those any better for you now?

Latest Nvidia driver and Windows 10 1803 working quite well for me in VR. Tracking in my Rift is very smooth.
Can't say though I ever had the black screen issues.

My machine is pending the latest Windows 10 update (although the one right next to it has updated - odd!), and I've put off the latest NVidia drivers - I always wait a week or two.

So I'll update the drivers tonight, and then wait for Windows 10 to update!

Thought i'd try all three, )OR, NV and Win10), sat here now as my OR has the black screen of nothing! Re-installing OR hoping that will work.

Knew i should not have read the forum before diving into the game...Damn all 3 of you!! (Not any forum members, but Nv, OR and M$).

Update:.....Got OR back working yet another 5.06Gb download and re-install. Now i am experiencing Frame Jumps, every so often 20-30 secs or so the whole game will jump a frame or 3??

Any ideas anyone?

I've heard reports that monitoring software like HW-Info can cause this. Any of that running on your system?

If all else fails with regard to tracking flashes in Elite, do a compete re-fresh of Windows 10 then re-install ED and Rift software. It was the only thing that worked on my set up. I can now run ED in VR on Medium settings with a Nvidia GTX 970.

Hello everyone.
I’m using the latest Nvidia drivers 397.64 and Oculus 1.26. All is good, even after the Windows reinstall update.

There was however some slight white flashing when I turn my head left and right quickly. So I decided to add my second sensor (to see if the issue was not enough data getting collected). And now it’s all good, completely !

Just to put a caveat in this... The number of times I've been told to re-install an OS to solve a problem, and infact the problem has been solved by something else? 100%

I'm sure it's maybe solved something for someone, but given what a significant step this would be for most folks, I'd suggest they proceed down that course of action as an absolute last final no-other-option step!

Hooray for everything! Think it's time I upgraded my driver (been clinging on to an old one for far too long now).

If you have updated to the latest big windows patch Alec ? It’s worth trying at this point in time. Hope you have kept a copy of your recent driver .exe that works for you currently.
I think 385.xx was the last Nvidia driver that worked well in VR.

Had the big Windows update, wrestled various things on my PC back to being the way I liked 'em (thanks a lot MS!) and also have a copy of the nvidia driver I'm currently using (385.13? - something like that) so it seems like a good time to try an update. I'll use DDU to clean everything and go for a driver only install in the hope of not screwing up my currently working GeForce Experience 2 (which I also have a copy of for rollback if necessary).

Just updated to Win10 1803?? and the latest Nvidea drivers. ED totally unplayable, white flashes in the background, display freezing. Had to roll back the driver to 397.64 and everything is butter smooth again.

GTX1060 6gb

Downloading 397.64 now - sounds like a good one to go for!

Edit: done and all good as far as I can tell.

OK, only slight problem (and I was half expecting this) is that I can now only get one recording out of nvidia shadowplay before it stops working. I then have to open the ShadowPlay control panel and turn it off and back on again in order to make another recording.

Might be time to give OBS a try.
