nVidia have released a new VR benchmarking and performance tool - FCAT
Might be worth a look to many of us in here - post your results for comparison!
Edit: The tool is software only, and needs no additional hardware. It just logs events that are being created by the Oculus, SteamVR, GPU drivers etc and creates stats and graphs based on the logs.
I've not tried it yet (at work), but the graphs and data logging look pretty good. Works with any GPU. Lots of stats being logged from several different sources.
The guide below contains a fairly detailed set of instructions on how to use the tool, and a guide to the ideal VR render pipeline too.

RoadtoVR also has an article on their tests for recent GPUs like the nVidia 10-series, including the 1080Ti and AMD RX 480
