Just what the heck is Nvidia up to?!
Yeah so Nvidia has announced that they will launch a new Titan X, called Titan Xp (not to be confused with the $1200 Titan X, and also not to be confused with the Titan X).
Just what the heck is Nvidia up to?!
It's a new and improved titan xp. The "p" stands for pascal, the architecture on which the titan was built. The Titan XP debuted last year for $1,200. The new titan XP has the same name, better specs.
So idiots would buy it.Yes I know. But why did they even release a Titan X in the first place last year if it wasn't a full specced card?
With the HBM2 ?
The new Titan Xp?
No. It's the same GP102 part thats in the old Titan X(P) and the 1080 Ti. It's just fully enabled and with faster GDDR5X.
You'll have to wait for the Titan Xp(random letter here) for a prosumer/ultra high-end HBM2 Pascal part...if they ever feel the need for one.
60fps is nice, but beyond that, I can barely tell the difference. Lol
The increase in powerful of the GDDR5X must bring already of the awesome performances
The card is 5-10% faster than the 1080 Ti. Horrible 'value' in the price/performance metric, but it's target market are those who are willing to spend for the best, even if it's only a little better than the second best.
That said, 384-bit 11.4Gbps GDDR5X is plenty of memory bandwidth and a GP100 chip at the same clocks, with the same number of functional units, with HBM2 would only be slightly faster overall, even with ~50% more bandwidth.
In conclusion, it is mainly an affair of prestige that of performances and the price differences are not really justified
That is petty, mate. To some that kind of money aint a big deal, good for them. If you cant or dont want to buy it, fine too.
Did I read the above correctly The last card was not fully enabled?
They sold a card deliberately hobbled for around 1000 quid and folk bought it?
