NVIDIA updated drivers etc. - Word of warning

Guys and gals out there, I went to check on the website for any upgrade to my Driver and discovered that there was a way to optimise my graphics settings for Elite Dangerous. Great I thought until I looked at what the settings were post optimising.

The settings were all dumbed down, and dumbed down a lot too.

the graphics display went from 1920 x 1080 down to 1366 x 768

Ambient occlusion was switched off

Anti Aliasing which was FXAA was switched off

Bloom went from low to high!

Shadow quality went from High to Low

I don't know about you but that seems pretty worrying especially as I am running a GPU with 4GB memory

So be careful with this.

I find that the game turns my settings down really low for no reason (it plays fine on high to ultra).

The geforce software can't seem to detect it.

Dont see the point of GeForce experience. I prefer the Bald Avenger Experience in my brain which is an extremely sophisticated programme...

10 if game is smooth
20 increase settings
30 else decrease settings

Some of the settings GEforce Ex comes up with are hilarious, like maxing everything on Farcry 3 at 1440p and then setting The Stanley Parable on like 800x600 or something.*

*made up example, I havent used it for yonks and cant remember the games in question, I just remember it being laughable in its uselessness.

I'm coming to the conclusion that it is a pile of old manure too. I may even uninstall it.

I've been setting the graphics options for ED since Alpha, so I know what works. If I let the game do it it looks truly awful!

Was that via the GeForce Experience software?

Yes it was.

The game itself seemed to find optimal settings for me, which is Ultra and everything almost at max settings too, and it runs really well. Not going to go with the GEForce settings though

I am running a GTX-970 with 4gig of memmory, ran the GeoForce experience, and it worked great. It bumped up a few settings that I did not know even existed. I play the game at max settings for everything, and is as smooth as silk.

Last geforce experience tells me to run the game at 2715x1527(?) via DSR.Which works but gives me 30 measly fps inside stations.
Meh.

rofl.. basic ftw.

Mine said the exact same thing - going to check it out just for the lols but I suspect my FPS will be destroyed! If it works tho, should look good!

Lol nvidia say to play the game in 3XXX something and it works perfect with 100 FPS even inside station. Geforce Experience always makes the best choices for me. don't know why it is that way for you.
