NZFanatic's Personal Wishlist

So now that we know what's coming in the Grasslands Animal Pack, I've decided to post my own wishlist of animals I'd still like to see in the game as others have before. I'm not going to list any fully aquatic species, though; tthey are currently completely off the table. I'm going to try and keep this tight and not go overboard, and restrict it to species I truly, really want to see, regardless of community popularity or likelihood. In terms of flying birds, I'm still leery of going too hard on them, so I'll only include a handful under 'exhibit animals'.

  • Hamadryas baboon.

Good list :) I would love a Kiwi too and I think it's pretty much a much desired bird by now. Also a third and final penguin would be great. Rockhopper? Yellow-eyed? the latter being an extra NZ representative. But again, good list!

Yellow-eyed?
We don't even keep the hoiho in zoos in New Zealand, so I don't particularly want it in the game (same as the kākāpō; both populations are too precarious to experiment with captive breeding, so putting them in the game would actually go against the conservation-focused theme Frontier is going for). I think all three penguins I listed would be good inclusions, however; the gentoo and rockhopper could both get interspecies enrichment with the king penguin, as these mixes are very common in real zoos (particularly the gentoo/king penguin mix), and the little blue penguin (along with the Australasian/New Zealand/South Australian fur seal, a.k.a the kekeno) crosses over NZ and Australia giving representation to both.

Ah I didn't know sorry :)

Still I think a kiwi is pretty possible addition in an Island pack, and I think a pretty good addition for PZ overall, and pretty much the number 1 representative of NZ. Would be quite the missed opportunity to just skip it.

Agreed. I've repeatedly said this throughout the years but for a 'complete' representation of New Zealand we only really need the kiwi (habitat animal) and tuatara (exhibit animal). With the walkthrough exhibit, I would add the kea to that list, but since we don't as yet know how aviary birds are going to be handled it's a very tentative addition. The blue penguin would be a bonus, and the fur seal an even bigger bonus. IMO all these species are plausible given the groups they belong to but it depends on how long support lasts and what Frontier's priorities are. Of all of them I am fairly confident that the kiwi will eventually come, though (it gained a ton of traction in the community over the last two years).
