Parks Oakwood Valley

So, I've been working on this park on and off for a few months now. I put Kent Island on the back burner for a little bit while I devote more of my time to this. For those of you who may not recall the name, Oakwood Amusement Park was the very first story park I posted on these forums. As such I thought it deserved a nod in a Planet Coaster creation (Meaning I had no idea what to name this park during that phase of the design cycle).

I was originally going to make this a full fledged story park like Kent Island is, but that just takes a lot of time and effort, especially considering the original plan was to go as far back as 1885. While this won't be a story park at its heart, it will have some subtle story elements to it.

Keep in mind this is only the entrance area. I thought that it had reached the point where I could start showing it off, but even then there are some unfinished bits.

The mainstreet and entrance plaza themselves weren't based on any park in particular. I took some quick glances at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Hersheypark to get some ideas, but most of this was just made up as I went along.

While the general shape of the park so far didn't have any reference, the entrance building is basically a more rustic rip off of the entrance for Darien Lake. Even so, I am still happy with what I was able to achieve.

The theme of the street started as more 'generic' with some subtle rustic touches and moved to a full on rustic approach. The Information building stands on the right of the entrance, along with a stroller rental.

On the left we have the Guest Servic--- Oh whats that? You don't care cause of the woodie in the back? No, I understand...

Anyways, moving on down the left side we have the Bite Size Candy Shop and the Cornerstore gift shop. Their functions really are nothing special, but the facades in my opinion turned out really nice.

Continuing to the right side is the Entryway Emporium. Two facades make up this massive store, the more prominent of the two being on a raised section of path.

Finally we have the Carousel at the very end of the street. It stands atop a hill overlooking the next area to the park (which still has to be built). This structure turned out so well, I think its one of my best.

Taking a look at the backstage for those of you who are into that sort of thing, there's nothing really special about it. (Thanks Ruble_Trillions and mineraljunction for the awesome vehicles!)

And that just about wraps it up...

Very nice work! You've got that look that's the hardest to pull off, IMHO, a very realistic style of parkitecture. It requires just the right balance, neither too much nor too little stuff, and each thing finely crafted. And BTW, that carousel skin is a superb example. You should definitely Workshop this stuff.

Looking forward to this, off to a great start! Has such a classic main street vibe to it. I also love that woman in the second pic. [big grin]
