Yeah the initial 10K grind is pretty painful.
Just got back from a HazRES and i made 7.5 million in 30 minutes so the pain is definitely worth it in the long run

And negate the point of having shields? Doubtful, and if so there'll likely be a way to craft stronger shields anyway.

In my experience, that makes her an Empire woman.
Doing this myself for the Clipper. The thing is, for all that extra juice and money, you can get the same shield performance with the A version of a shield and a Booster...I'm not sure this is the best mod...
Exactly. So, you can use a lower internal slot to have a shield generator that would usually require a higher slot. That's a big advantage depending on what you want to put in this higher slot that just becomes available...

In time, I hope she will mature enough to realize this and turn those CMDRs down when they start their move...
