Hardware & Technical Obutto vs Pagnian

I am looking at replacing my computer desk with a sim setup this holiday (Christmas present to myself with the bonus :D). Does anyone have any experience with either of these? I have read good things about both. Obutto has the R3volution, and Pagnian is coming out with the Next Level next month.

I need something comfortable for hours long sessions and sturdy (I am not a light weight - about 240 lbs).

Thanks!

I can give you some feedback in about a week on the Pagian NL system as mine was just shipped out.
Was backorderd so I had to wait 4 weeks, ugh and then shipped from Canada so another 7 days.

I am about 6' and around 185lbs.

I went round and round took about 2 weeks going over pages and pages of specs, chairs and systems out there.
I even contemplated building my own as others have. I chose the GTUltimate as it is the best for the money and I like the the design over most out there.

I am use to sitting on my comfy couch and/or pyromat chair and playing so will see how long I can sit in the GT chair before I get twitchy.

You can PM me or check out my build thread over here:

I'll be posting pics and info about it there as I build it up and use.

Thanks! I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts. This is quite a bit of money for me, so I want to make sure I make the right choice.

The GTUltimate is one of many game seats available. [not going to name them all]
It is on the high end of costs for a reason.

My assesment is it was manufactured very well and is a solid unit worth the money if you can afford it.
My nefew is about 6'7 and 220lbs and he says its comfortable where I am about 6' and 180lbs.

I am giving it a B- overall as I am very picky when it comes to the little things not perfect.

The foot pedal rest is very customizable and you can adjust the angles and distance for short or long legs.
The whole front unit can be adjusted and moves in and out from the seat and bolts down in four places.

The seat is a fiberglass material and has foam cushions that are removeable and are held in place with velcro strips.
Seat material is a dense foam and is not your "couch" type material, albet it will be with some use and break in over time.

The seat has a lever to move forward or back as a regular car chair does, it moves about 7-9" forwards/backwards.
You can also adjust the seat angle quite alot from straight up [and a little more forward] to perhaps 40deg back.
There are two levers on each side of the seat that unlock/lock the seat angle.

The frame is made from steel and powder-coated with an overall glossy finish.
Welds are good and look like they are done by hand.

The basic kit comes with a few angled arms for mounting your controls.
The design allows you to adjust them forward/back and in/out but not up down.
They do provided two different height arms however, I found them more than adaquate for my use.

I purchased the Flight pack and the Keyboard pack as well so this allowed me to have even more options and extras.

Overall I am happy with the unit and would recommend it if you have the cash to toss into the wind.:D

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to get back with your review. It was a big help. Now... I just hope my bonus is big enough. :D

I also wonder if I should take the Obutto r3volution, the GT Ultimate v2, or any other cockpit.
My situation is, I'm doing racing (not a lot now, but a few), space simulators (elite dangerous and star citizen), flight simulator (x-plane) with planes (a bit) and helicopter (a lot).
I also have a full length helicopter cyclic from komodo, and so, my question would be if there is a way to floor mount such a full length cyclic in this cockpit. According to the photos there is not a lot of room on the floor between pedals and seat.

Also, I asked Pagnian, and they told me the checker plate is 37 cm wide only, which prevents installing a wide rudder control there, like the MFG crosswind, which requires 46.5 cm minimum (and 49.5 cm without the special adaptor).

So, still wondering if I should replace my current obutto ozone, and with what :)

Thanks

The plate is actually 35mm wide, but the clearence between the steering posts is about 52mm, you could mount the MFG on the plate [if <53mm wide]
it would just overhand the side a few cm's. Mine overhangs 2cm on each side.

As for room between the pedals and the seat, no there isn't any as they are bolted together in a frame style.
But I could see where you might be able to make a base plate and come out from under the bottom of the seat with a angle bar and then mount your cyclic to that.
Pagnian uses a mount bracket that mounts to the underside of the seat frame for the center style mount. I chose not to mount it as I am not using anything in the center.

You would probably need to make something custom here for your cyclic.

I have some pics of the chair here that may help, just scroll thru to near the end of the thread for all my chair pics.

I can also take some measurments if you need some specific details of things.
