Okay so something is kinda been bothering me a bit about the roleplay threads. We have quite a few threads going telling individual stories and most of them are great. I'm really enjoying them. But there is a problem with this section of the forums and one I fear can't be worked around because of the structure of Elite Dangerous itself.
Here's the deal. The Thargoid & Fer de Lance roleplay is what I originally thought the roleplay forums would be. A place where CMDRs would interact with each other yet also tell their own stories all at the same time. Problem is... well Elite. It's too damn big. Players are so scattered in the billions of stars, hell in the thousands of stars in just the bubble, that interacting with each other at one location is nearly impossible long term. Which is a big reason the Thargoid & Fer de Lance also slowed to a crawl.
We need a different approach at trying to interact in these tails while still having the freedom of the game and it's vase number of stars to do our own thing.
So I kinda came up with an idea. Since we already have these great individual treks going on at their own paces, I figure what we need is a "central hub" for all of us to meet in character and interact, continuing our own individual tails but also collaborate on certain jobs as like Futuristic Kung Fu and I just have for the whole Kamito plot line in both our threads.
This type of thing was really fun for me, especially the end of the "Kamito Arch" because it game my character a chance to grow and learn from the mistakes I made in that battle, something that had I continued myself wouldn't have happened until much later on in my roleplay. I feel more things like that could happen more often. The reason put central hub in quotes is because I think we might actually need several locations for this given how large the bubble is. Maybe one for every major power.
My idea would more or less be a place or places to gather so that we can do crossover events in our roleplays and maybe even be a place to build a joint story line like T&FdL. When things slow down there we all will still have our own roleplays to fall back on but we can still have a place to go to spice things up a bit.

To use my only roleplay as an example: The Shattered Dreams limps into (for the sake of this point) Adams Market in the Eotienses System and sets down on the pad. The ship is too damaged to go any farther but at least she made it this far. I hurry to the Request Granted Bar (for lack of a better name. What can I say? I do my best writing when I'm drinking.) being sure I'm not followed by any of Delaine's hit men. I reach the bar hoping to see Mossfoot or Nostaw Alene hoping to they could at the very least hide me on board one of their ships until the Dreams was ready to fly again. Luckily Matt and Kyndi at the bar. I approach Matt completely out of breath as he starts to take a drink. I grab the drink from his had ad down the whole glass.
"Well hello to you too Momoka." He says as I signal for the bartender to send over another drink.
"Hey Matty, old buddy... Listen... I need a favor from you..."
I sit down and order my usual and explain the detail of the job.

"No way in hell princess." I tell the girl. Ain't no goddamn way I'm flying into Gable Enterprises with that many explosions on board.
"We'll do it" Kyndi interrupts completely ignoring what I just said.
"Kyndi..."
"Matt you owe be this favor from last time."
Of course she brings that up.
"What the hell makes you think we can even make it that deep into Delaine space?"
"I know a few guys that can give us safe passage."
"Wait? A few guys?"
"Jealous honey?"
This woman.
"I'm trying not to get us killed here."
"But that means you both are in?" Momo cuts in, downing what was that, her forth glass of vodka? This pink haired...
"I didn't says that."
"What you've gone all soft on us?" Kyndi adds in.
"Can't win here can I?"

You get the point. (Btw I came up with all that on the fly) This is just one idea I had to maybe have a bit of fun both in game and on the forums that might work with the massive world that is Elite Dangerous.
