Occulus Rift general question

Hi Guys,

I go and preorder my CV1 tomorrow despite the risk it might not be supporting Elite at Launch... but I will just Play the bundled games and watch some movies until it is all sorted. Mind you I still hope it all works fine by the time I receive mine probably mid february(my personal guess)

Now the question: how is watchign movies with it? I imagine it has a big virtual movie Screen like Imax - is it like that? Maybe someone can share their experience? I have not seen a movie in a DK2 so no idea what it is like...

Think about it like this: I have a 75" 4k TV in my living room, a Denon receiver and 7.1 Klipsch Reference surround sound speakers.

It's "cool" watching things on DK2, it's a big looking screen for sure and is somewhat like going to a movie theatre (from a few years ago, prior to digital HD movie projectors). But screen size alone does not a good experience make, and people who say "headphones are just as good!!" are being...overly optimistic.

The cinema app in the rift dk2 is impressive as an experience but its too low RES with sde problems to use as a full time movie watching experience imo.

Cv1 is sure to be better..... Better enough to replace decent home cinema?....probably no but if you are in a tiny flat with only a 14 inch portable........ Possibly :)

well I assume you could run it with a surround sound system instead of using headphones ;)
