Occupied escape pod ( unique ) mission

I'm having a real headache completing this mission. I don't know if the mission is broken or I'm doing something wrong but must have been at it for 10 hours in total!!! The mission was to scan a beacon, did that then received message to go to a specific moon. I've searched loads of POI's and found alot interesting stuff and even found 4 escape pods but none of them allow me to complete the mission. I've spent so much time looking for an answer but can't find one!!!
Some people are saying they just find these around where they drop and you can just hand these pods in for other missions but if that was the case then surely the 4 I've found would suffice.

It does say unique in brackets suggesting it's a specific pod but how am I supposed to find one pod when there all over the place. Why can't mission specific POI's appear different on the radar, maybe a different colour.

Hope someone can help because I'm at a loss right now

The mission POI will appear in blue. When you drop in the item will be labeled as a unique item. Just fly around the area that was mentioned when you scan the NAV beacon. It will pop up eventually. On a side note, you posted this in the Group Subforum, I requested it be moved to the Xbox main forum.

Yeah I realised I had posted this in the wrong section pal. Sorry about that. Thanks for the reply too. All the POI's are appearing blue and the only info I was given was which moon the pod was on. I will keep trying pal. Thanks again

Did the mission update tell you that it was on the moon, or just around the moon. Unless it told you it was on the moon, I be it's around the moon in space. Re read the mission description. Hope it helps you figure it out.

What they said. Check your nav panel, the target should show up there in a light blue text. It's probably in a USS near the planet, rather than on the planet. If it IS on the planet, however, you will get a special light-blue target there that you can follow down. It may move a couple of times before it settles.

Ok will have to check the message I received but I think the mission will have expired now unfortunately. When you say a special blue target, do you mean a target like a ship target? If my thinking is correct from what you guys have said, I have to look for a blue circle of interest then fly into it and then look for the little blue target? I'm new to these type of missions as I've just come back playing elite

I was out hunting for materials for the engineers, yesterday. I was searching USS targets (Unidentified Signal Source). I came across occupied escape pods twice, 2x5=10. So, maybe circle a planet, look for USS and search them.

These missions are usually to collect something from a wrecked site orbiting around a planet/moon. Scan the Nav Beacon to get the planet name, fly to the planet and circle around it (ie dont go down to the surface) in or close to the blue orbit circle in supercruise . Do this for a bit (change direction when you've gone around the whole planet) and you'll suddenly get notified of your mission objective (written in blue letters). Fly to it and drop out of Supercruise as you would do investigating any signal. You'll find wreckage/cargo and the mission object.

Ok. I never thought to circle the planet. Forums are essential for this game, I would be totally lost without them lol

It's very helpful to be able to ask any question without getting ripped apart for asking it! I will tell you that the game does a much better job of explaining some things than it used to, but there is still a long way to go. Let us know if you find what your were looking for and if you have any other questions post another thread!

Yeah I've noticed there's alot more info in the game. I will let you know how I get on, hopefully I will find it! It's great that everyone is so helpful, gives a community feel to the game. When your out in space in the game you can feel alone and helpless sometimes.

Good news guys, your help worked. I've completed two of these missions now. My big mistake was assuming I had to search every POI on the planet and not searching for signals whilst orbiting the planet first. Also not fully reading the mission details because it does say to search for signals. Thanks again guys
