Occupied Escape Pods - no longer illegal? THANK YOU :)

Just came back from a brief sojourn out of the Bubble, where I rescued 2 crashed pilots ~1500LY out.

I was very pleasantly surprised to find they were not marked as illegal cargo, and indeed, when I docked I could "sell" them for Salvage. (I'd like to think of it as a rescue reward instead).

THANK YOU FDEV!

While not optimal (ideally there should be options to "rescue" (for low profit), "sell into slavery" (for higher profit, but chance of bad things happening in the future), "hand over to system security" (for pirates/wanted, some creds, some rep), ...? these scooped capsules, with triggers for future missions (revenge, assist-in-need, etc)), but this is a HUGE step up from the previous behaviour!

And it wasn't, as far as I can tell, mentioned in any of the changelogs. I -think- this change happened between 2.0 and 2.01.

So just wanted to shout out a thanks,
- Micha.

I found some meat canisters at a crash site in deep space on a planet and they were legal. I always wondered why salvage was illegal, didn't make sense to me.

I think 'Sell into slavery' should be the low, but consistent profit, but you can choose to 'rescue/release' too. These will usually give you nothing but the occupant's thanks (and maybe some faction rep) but it could have the chance that the person you rescued was rich/powerful giving you either an instant reward or possibly a later 'follow my wake and we'll talk' mission which results in a reward.

I also like the 'hand over to security' if they're wanted - I hadn't thought of this option but this could give a bounty, faction rep and the possibility of later revenge missions, as you said. You could also get rewarded/faction rep if you choose to rescue the criminal instead of turning them in.

Agree. There should be a wide spread in rewards with the occasional rescue that is so grateful he gives you an extremely rare, fully loaded, custom color top level ship.
