If you've got the spare cash and are prepared to sacrifice visual acuity for the sake of immersion then go for it. Like you (it seems) I got one purely because I HAD to have it and I've not regretted the rash, impulse purchase one single bit. The feeling of being IN your ship rather than simply watching it from the other side of a pane of glass is unbeatable. I like mine so much I'm not particularly bothered about the retail release. I'll keep using my DK2 for as long as it's supported.
You really do get used to the lower overall resolution.
Have a look a this website, it'll give you and idea of what the DK2 display looks like...

Yep, the 1080 option is the "correct" setting to simulate the DK2 but I think, when you take into account how close the screen is to your eyes, the DK1 option gives a fairer representation. Thanks for the time. Am i right in assuming the 1080 1920-1080 is the DK2. Once my eyes adjusted its not that bad, considering the immersion. Im sold. I orderedIll update when im set up.

I'm now hoping I've not convinced you to buy something you'll hate!![]()
I believe it's when the DK2 is running in its native 75hz display; something I believe is a bit difficult to achieve in ED but, to be honest, I'm not totally sure!
Have a poke about in this forum, you might find some more answers...

It looks very pixely. It's 1920x1080 split across two eyes, so 960x1080 and it shows. The retail Rift will be a lot higher, and the HTC Vive is much higher.
Im Rotherham, uk. Thanks for the offer but a little far! ^_^
Whats your opinion marksawtell? Would you recommend the DK2 over screen. Im sure i will be blown away, just trying to gather as much info as pos before i press the button.
Sorry bud hadn't seen you had replied . I hate playing it without it . As everyone says it's not perfect but a real game game changer. I've played sessions up to 12 hours at a time , a little shocked when I take it off and realise day has become night lol if you can spare the wonga , it will be the best money you've spent over joysticks etc imho![]()
I believe that you have that backwards, it seems that the Vive will have a lower spatial res than the CV1.
CV1 has the same res as the VIVE DK (possibly the same screen even)
whether VIVE consumer version will have a higher res than the DK, who knows, but it isnt a lower res than oculus rift CV1. my money is on them both being the same and any differences will be down to the optics as well as the motion tracking.
yeh. im looking through the vr forum. got my order ref from oculas... like xmas already ^_^
