oculus cv1 and elite loading times

Tried to play elite tonight about eleven o'clock gmt with my cv1 but just got the message elite dangerous is taking awhile to load I waited 10 minutes but that circle just kept going round and round. The image of the elite start menu on my monitors loaded and was functional...tried three times but no joy,is this usual? Ran DCS world and War Thunder without problems..

I got no such problems.
Do you logged into the game? In the first run you have to do it on the desktop: email and password and then do the verification mail.

All that is--assuming you've launched ED VR from Oculus Home--that the main game window launches behind the Oculus Home. Just ALT-TAB it to the foreground or click on it using your mouse--got to life your Rift headset up a bit to see the Windows Desktop since it's not shown within the Rift.

I'm not sure if this is a rendering bug in Windows or just the way Oculus apps start in general but unless you do this ED will never properly launch the way other Oculus Home VR Apps do. Perhaps it's due to the ED Launcher which other VR apps do not have. ED now mandates launching itself from the Launcher as of 2.1.0.5.

You can also try launching the executable directly outside Oculus Home but that won't get you past the Launcher either (for client version validation).

The game loads I can log in, start the game etc etc but with the oculus head set on all I see is the message I mentioned.

I've never had that problem as long as I clicked on the Elite mirror window on the monitor to bring it into the foreground and I can immediately see the Frontier logo appearing in the HMD and the game loading properly.

Find and run the Oculus Log Gatherer (just double-click on the tool icon in the Oculus "Utilities" folder) and it'll complete in a few seconds displaying the last few entries of the OculusVR process log. This should tell you if there are any errors preventing the game from starting and you can troubleshoot from there. You can also open an Oculus Rift service ticket but their response times can be quite long....
