Oculus dk2 head tracking been screwed for some time.

So im at a loss here quite some time ago maybe around june I updated some files may have been the run time or graphics drivers but ever since the head tracking on my dk2 just doesn’t work right. It dose this rhythmic judder thing not sure how to describe it really feels like a software issue. Ran just fine before hardware is solid.

I’ve tried many combinations of video card drivers and Oculus run times 4.4 5.01 6.01 but all of em come back with the same issue. Everything is plugged in from what I can tell nothing is in the way of the tracking camera. Im at a loss ive tries so many things. Any magic buttons or ideas. I kind of ran out of obvious stuff to try.

been a while since ive been able to use elite in the rift.

I5-4690k cpu @ 3.5GHz
16GB ram
NVidia gtx 980 gpu
All on an ssd.

And for Pete sake please don’t bury this in another thread somewhere in the 500th page of posts like my last post about this.

I've had this. I have similar spec machine except i7-2600k CPU.. I tried all manner of combinations too with no joy.. It could have been the complete removal of drivers before reinstallation that worked for me... Eventually it was running smooth again.. Of course this may not work for you or you may have already tried it.

Could it be possible that you plugged in some other Hardware over USB? A Wlan/Bluetooth Stick/ Controller? It could be a Power Issue.. Try to use the Power-Adapter with the rift and the usb-hub (if you use one) if you haven't tried already...

Ok, so I tried yesterday the CQC stress test with my DK2 and have something I guess is similar to you OP: a regular judder every half a second when I turn my head, and that started from the very first logo screen, and in the game (it was first training mission). Also, but that's not the topic, all was blurred.

The game itself didn't have the judder problem so I searched differences between both and found that it was my SweetFX installation on game side (FORC-FDEV-D-1010) which wasn't installed on the CQC Stress test side (PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER). As I keep a copy in a specific directory to quickly update the game when they push a new version, I copied that into the CQC test directory and VOILA! :)

That fixed fully the judder problem (and the blur, but that's not the topic).

I can't imagine why SweetFX can fix this kind of problem, really, something I miss here. In any case, it worked for me. I guess it could depends the settings you used inside the SweetFX configuration file? Anyway, give it a try in case it work for you. If you're not a SweetFX user, just keep default installation first. if that don't fix for you I can provide my settings I guess. It's kind of xtreme settings (personal taste) but if it fix the problem for you you could play with settings until you're satisfy.

Does it go away if you cover your DK2s tracking lights or turn away from the camera so that you loose tracking? If it does then you have the exact same issue as me, there is no fix, do not get duped into buying USB hubs or silly stuff like that. It's a fault in E: D and one only Frontier can fix.
