Oculus + GT70 laptop -> ED not seeing secondary monitor

I have ED and the Oculus working great on my desktop machine. However on my laptop ED doesn't give the option of 'Secondary' for the monitor when the Oculus is plugged in. The only option is 'Primary'. Both machines use nvidia cards and are setup identically. In the nvidia panel both displays show up. The Oculus display is rotated correctly. Oculus mode is set to 'extended'. The Tuscany demo works fine on the laptop. The only real difference between the two machines that I can see is that the laptop also has the integrated intel graphics. However I have it set for all programs to default to the nvidia card and indeed when ED is running it is using the nvidia card. Any ideas on how to get ED to recognize the Oculus on the laptop as a secondary monitor?

I've got a GS70 with same graphics setup.
I have set the oculus as primary display (for 75Hz). this seems to work fine for me.
(although having it as secondary works as well)

I don't use a laptop for ED, but have you tried disabling the onboard graphics in the BIOS. It may make a difference

I bet its one of them Nvidia Optimus laptops? where the graphicscard is hardwired through the integrated intel HD and use the same framebuffer.(you can't disable the integrated)
These kinds of laptops are almost impossible to get anything working with oculus rift on, I returned mine stright away.

Mine is Nvidia Optimus, works fine, although mostly have to use extended mode.
