Oculus just 'upgraded' ED to version 2.3.1

My Oculus install just upgraded Elite Dangerous to version 2.3.11 :( Cannot join a game due to needing an update... This occured AFTER the 3.3 upgrade on the 11th December.....

Seems to be related to a downgrade/issue within oculus home... I am attempting an oculus software repair now...

Re-started computer & Oculus Home.
Oculus found update (back to v3.3 this time) then started download and upgrade back to 3.3.

At least it was sorted pretty quickly.

Oculus Home stalls at "Elite Dangerous Installing 0%"
Re-starting Oculus means that I'm now stuck in a forced "Preparing to Download, Optimising Download, Downloading, Installing.........." loop.

and this is why I'm happy to not bother with an oculus install.

Mmmmmh, tell me about it. best thing too was their update in the middle of the year that changed their software, now all non-Oculus games CANNOT be re-centered and even crash when using Oculus. basically rendered all my steam games frustratingly unusable.

Gotta Love Oculus for their "We do what we want, screw you all" approach to everything, did I mention my Oculus suffered from the very well known right headphone failure? been using surround speakers ever since they denied warranty (actually not as bad as it sounds, but irritating none the less)

But hey, at least Oculus is reliable 'most' of the time. and I still support it. and needless to say for the most comfortable Oculus experience I prefer to keep it on Oculus, don't really have a choice do I now....

I have had non of these problems and I am playing Vr games on a daily basis, no clue what your on about.

My oculus install is completely borked lol, looks like it started re-downloading the update, but it blue screened my pc..... Brought forward my 6 monthly clean up and re-install...

shut down my PC and gave it a whirl after a coffee. Update loaded. but I noticed that I have to start the game from FDevs page. Does not load when selected in OCULUS for me but runs just fine after I select the play option on the games page.
I never get bored of the interesting changes that always seem to follow a game update:x
Hope you all have a great Christmas[yesnod]

I was wondering about that too, left the computer and it upgraded again automatically to 3.3, some 20 gig in total...

I would imagine your experiences with your Oculus Rift will be different to Jaylem's. His problems of recentering his Steam games will depend on those games themselves.

The problem with the headphones is a design flaw. For reasons of aesthetics over practicality they decided to use a mechanical slider to connect the headphones. As your headset ages this connection deteriorates. I didn't have any problems with warranty. I replaced one headset because of this flaw, but because the flaw is due to poor design my new headset went the same way.

I never asked Facebook to replace my latest headset because I didn't want to have my headset continuously in the post instead of on my head. I'm just using my own headphones over the top on my headset, which is a bit of a pain because one of the reasons I bought it was for the integrated sound system.

I'm glad this problem hasn't cropped up with you, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that your headset doesn't go the same way as the two of mine did.
