Oculus Library - Elite Dangerous

I own Elite Dangerous Horizons and just received my CV1.

It seems I must reinstall Elite Dangerous Season pass into steam to run Horizons through the Oculus or reinstall Elite Dangerous into the Oculus Library, both with redeemed activation keys.

All of these require huge downloads.

There were some instructions in these forums which seem to indicate I could get my original installation to work but for me at least Oculus would say it was taking too long to load and it failed to get to my goggles.

So, I'm installing Elite Dangerous through the Oculus library but I am getting the impression that this is not the Horizons version of Elite?.

Should I just install the Steam Season pass?

I guess I should also ask, am I risking the loss of my Pilot profile with any of these new installations. I own a lot of rather expensive ships.

I have ED Horizons on a standard install (not steam or Oculus Store) and it works fine with my CV1.
Have the Oculus Store running when pressing play from the Elite Launcher and it fires up in the Rift.

You don't have to download anything - just go into the Settings menu in the Oculus App -> General and click on Unknown Sources (set it to yes). This will enable you to play via the regular ED launcher. Disclaimer: I don't have the Steam version so not sure if that makes any difference.

EDIT: The Oculus version (Deluxe Edition) does contain Horizons.

It seems to me that the only advantage of running ED through Oculus library is that you don't have to switch the Windows audio (from speakers to Rift) each time you play.

Did encountered the same problem,
I launch the game via elite dangerous laucher - horizons.
I start screen options - graphics - 3d - hdmi headphones.
exit

start game via ed launcher - in same time oculus home is starting
brings you to the new start screen in VR with the buggy.

atm not at home but it should work.

I remember now when I first used my CV1 that I got this message. I also had one or two black screens. I'm sorry I can't remember what happened now but it just stopped. Try restarting your PC. Make sure you have set 3D to 'HMD' (even if you are using your monitor you can try it, it may help to sort things out).

Just make sure you log in using your existing account. If you use the Oculus Library method make sure you read these:
