Oculus: no EDO update offered, can't start game...again

When I start the Oculus app on my PC, I am not offered any EDO update. When I then start EDO from the Oculus App, I'm forced to quit the launcher and told to first apply the upgrade via the Oculus. I hope it's not the same thing that happened two weeks ago because it took a week to finally fix. Anyone else on OCULUS having this problem? (NOT STEAM).

I just gave up a couple of weeks ago and installed from Frontier.
I believe I did the same a while ago. However the second I played it in VR, Oculus took over and now it won't start the game without Oculus. EVEN when I shut down the Oculus service and start the game with its own local shortcut, the message in the pic I posted above still prevents me from starting the game.

EDIT: I should clarify that normally, when there are no pending updates, I am able to bypass Oculus and start the game without it. It's only when there is a pending ED update that the above happens

Update: EDO update offered via Oculus overnight but failed to install. Ran the Oculus app in admin mode and tried again but the update still failed to install. Basically the exact same thing is happening as when the last EDO update was released on May 20st(ish).

EDIT: I ran the update a second (third?) time (ran Oculus app in admin mode again) and it seems that the update managed to go through

Probably not relevant (and I am not a VR user) but my update usually fails when the SSD is full. Usually takes half a days until I figure it out...again :p
