Oculus Quest 2 on Steam VR running ED wireless - No controllers at all!

Hi All,

I have the Q2 and so far been running ED on my home PC via Oculus USB-C cable, no issues, amazing experience.

Recently, due to remote work I have moved to another location where I have my spare PC without any USB-C support and so I have to run ED wirelessly and I rely on the following setup:

1. Running Virtual Desktop on Q2 and desktop PC
2. Purchased a cheap Steam Key for ED and run ED via steam (Option: Run in Steam VR)

Steam VR launches game fine but I am 'stuck' on initial screen as I cannot move through the menu. Though Steam VR does 'see' the two controllers, when in-game menu they do not seem to work at all, no scrolling, no pointers nothing

Futhermore, Steam VR does not see my keyboard / mouse, nor does it see my Logitech X-56. Needless to say when I am running ED via Steam in non-VR mode everything works fine.

I have gone online but have not managed to find an exact solution.

Any assistance most welcome

Been playing ED since the launch. I just got a Quest 2 and got everything working with Voice Attack and Thrustmaster Hotas 4 in 2D.

When I jump into Steam VR with Virtual Desktop, the HOTAS is disabled. Keyboard and mouse are likewise disabled, so I get stuck at the "Continue," screen.

I'm in the same boat with Commander Potatori.

Help, please.

Thanks!

And why to use SteamVR with Oculus helmets? These helmets can work directly in VR mode with their Oculus app. At least when I had helmets (two different helmets) from Oculus – they worked perfectly in VR mode without the SteamVR program.
But when I bought an HP Reverb G2 helmet, that's when SteamVR was needed. The fact is that SteamVR works only through Microsoft Virtual Reality, and Oculus helmets do not need this platform. They work through their software from their company. Maybe the reason for non-working controllers is that they are not recognized without Microsoft Virtual Reality?
And more.. I bought the Elite Dangerous game through the developer's website, not through Steam.

With Oculus headsets, you need to have the Oculus desktop software installed and running as well as Steam VR to play VR games through Steam.

I figured it out. The problem was the application focus on the Windows Destop. So much crap launches when you boot into VR that the focus shifts to one of the other apps. Just make sure that the last thing you click on is the ED Odyssey window on the desktop. Then the HOTAS works.

Yes I was scrolling through the posts and just about to say that. I get that issue all the time when I am recording ED using VD and SteamVR. So switch back to desktop and make sure the ED client is in the foreground :)
