Oculus Release ASW 2.0

Any chance Frontier will expose the depth data required for it to do it's magic? Well we still don't have 100% official Dash support so something tells me that the chances of seeing ASW 2.0 in this game is next to zero. I guess you never know though! Fingers crossed for Rift users....

Oh Lordy, I hope this gets implemented before / with Elite’s New Era, might save me having to upgrade the 1080 :)

Just installed the latest Oculus drivers ver 1.37. Jumped into ED and I would say ASW 2.0 is working. The first thing I noticed was that the target reticle does not show the double image I would normally see when ASW 1.0 kicked in. Also everything is running very smooth. This was only a quick test, so your experience may be different. But this MAY change my mind about which HMD I get next.

I just moved over to the Oculus Home beta channel so I could grab the 1.37 update and BY GODS I'm 99% sure Elite is submitting it's depth buffers to the Oculus runtime because ASW feels absolutely steller now! The speed indicator lines in supercruise don't warp anymore, fast scrolling through the commodities menu in stations is almost comletely warp-free and there's no warping during the "Enter Hanger / Return to surface" sequences where the ship spins. This is f-ing amazing!
So it's not just me then :). I played ED for a bit longer and it did feel smoother. Thought I was imagining it.

Same, not really seeing much difference at all, but then again my rig and settings pretty much doesn't trigger ASW to begin with.
Even in stations with the commodities screen or mission screen open I was getting 90fps..

So I even forced ASW on with the debug tool and it wasn't much different.
It might have been slightly less, but only slightly.

And from before we know ASW gets a lot less artefacting if it has a lot of headroom.
But if it does have that headroom it is nigh impercebtible to true 90, which is where I think oculus might be going.
In future I wouldn't be surprised we would see devices meant to run at 60fps always, and panels updating and running at 120hz using spacewarp.

Tonight, playing Elite with Oculus 1.37, I found ASW kicking in really quick and making many artifacts. Finaly I disabled ASW, and it was running quite fine. I had frame rate drops in stations (never below 70fps) but the rest was ok. Anyway I'm going back to 1.36 as I find ASW better with it.

The new 1.37 update seems to work well for me - no more warping with a boost in framerate (but to be fare, I was using a rather old version previously).
