oculus rift and 3d side by side settings

hi I was contemplating getting a dk2 and was not sure how my mac wouid handle it so I saw the setting for 3d and set that to side by side and on 1920 x1080 settings on medium I was achieving around 100 fps in the dock and looking around the cockpit is there any way this wouid determine the quality of gameplay I wouid have in the rift thanks

The graphics in the rift are nowhere near as good as a monitor. .In the rift you'll get around 60fps, text will be hard to read.
To give you an idea of what you are in for take a look at the image below and compare that your HD monitor.
That said, the 3D experience is nowhere near as good as the rift. It's truely immersive and I only play in the rift.

Since the official release is months away, personally unless you are swimming in cash, I'd save the money

thank you for the dk1 to dk2 comparison I have a s6 gear vr so I kinda get the immersion that I will have but was wondering if it will give me similar framerates so that it will be playable

Yikes... Where did those screenshots come from??
I have a DK2 and it looks way WAY WAY better than that. I play both iRacing and Elite with my DK2, and would never consider going back to a monitor. The graphics clarity is plenty good enough for everything. Text can be *a little* tricky to read sometimes, but nothing at all like the shots above.

That said... I think the Rift will NOT run on a Mac at all. So, maybe all moot.

...and yes, waiting for the full consumer version is still pretty good advice.
