Oculus Rift and 8th generation Intel chips (i7-8700K etc)

Greetings CMDRs
Has anyone been lucky enough to test any of the 8th generation chips with Elite and Occy Rift? I've done a lot of googling/youtubing and found lots of 2D benchmarks, but nothing specific for Elite and O.R. and improvements in FPS/picture quality.

I'd love to hear about any benchmark results or visual improvements you've noticed.

I haven't seen anything specific for the rift but I have read a lot of reviews on the 8700K and it is a really fast CPU but in general that doesn't have much affect on VR games since they are more GPU bound. If you have a an i7 made in the past 4/5 years or so you won't notice any difference in VR. A GPU upgrade is going to give you the biggest improvement and the Nvidia 1080 Ti is the best you can get at the moment.

Currently I've got an i5-4690K and GTX 1070. I've tried my mate's Rift and loved it, so I'll be getting it when it drops in price again or whenever the 1st update of V3.0 drops (whichever is first). I'll probably wait and see how my system fares with VR first, before I start messing about upgrading everything.

Here in the UK, the i7 8700k is not available until 1st Nov, so unless you are lucky enough to have been sent one for your YT channel, then i think ED write ups will few and far between.
