Oculus Rift and Buttkicker Gamer2

Hi Guys and Gurls,

Anyone out there using this combination? How do you get sound going to your Buttkicker (Speakers) and Rift headset at same time??

Caveat..... I have windows 10, so no windows (Realtek) 'Stereo Mix' option and yes i have ticked show disabled devices. I am one of the unlucky ones who does not have the simple stereo mix options and that would have solved my question.

So how do i get sound from speakers (Buttkicker is plugged into subwoofer output on PC speakers) and from Rift headphones at same time?

Thank you in anticipation

I used a splitter on my rig out in Bahrain, was using my own USB headphones, the BKGamer was split with the subwoofer signal. Will be setting up my UK rig this weekend, hoping it won't be an issue.

Hi 777, hope you are ok?

My BK is connected via 3.5 to the sub output of the PC, as i don't use any speakers at all this is the only connection into my audio card. I use either my rift headset or when going flat (Monitor), i use USB sennheiser headset for sound and mic.

My issue is how to get sound to a USB output (Rift or Headset) and output to my PC sound card at the same time without echo. Both setups work individually by setting defualt output in the playback settings within win 10. but as i don't have access to the 'Stereo Mix' program i can't get them to work together.
I am not aware of a 3.5/usb splitter as i have googled this and can't find any.

there is a few software mixer programs out there, and i guess i'll have to try these, but don't want to pay out on these if they don't achieve what i want, and that is a very simple play sound through 2 devices (Without Echo) at the same time.

Hopefully some of our brilliant Rift users have dabbled in these vibration devices as well, and have found away to get around this.

Cheers me ole mucker for responding. Fly Safe

I have that combination but I personally opted for the Oculus ear buds for general Oculus content and then use a set of seperate 3.5m stereo headphones for anything I use with my buttkicker (BK + Headphones connected to my onboard sound card).

Voice Meter Banana etc should mirror your audio (I didn't like it) - Oculus Home has an option for mirroring but will only mirror audio from Rift content launched directly from Home. So you loose any audio sent via apps such as Voice Attack or VLC etc.

I have looked at that, and indeed downloaded it, but how the flip do i use that for such a simple need? It looks a fantastic program for all sorts of audiophiles and mixing real and virtual inputs/outputs, but stereo mix is 2 ticks in the box and you have sound from 2 sources. VM is like er......... frightening. It may well work, but just how :( ?

If you can offer a simpletons guide TorTorden, (And it is for a PC idiot ;) ) i am all ears and will forever bow when ever you post on here, and of course some forum love :) :)

Yes it's not what I would consider intuitive or user friendly.
I don't actually have a transducer so haven't set it up myself.

I just did the same thing with my pimax headset and BK. Used voicemeeter. Took a bit of figuring out to get it working though. I needed to switch off my external amp that the motherboard connects to over optical for it to use the BK connection on the analog "green" audio out. Once I did that, voicemeeter picked up the BK connection.

ok here goes - this is how i did mine

bought a mono 3.5 to RCA adapter. Plug into the green audio out of the onboard sound card - connect an RCA to RCA cable to the BK amp

I also have my optical out going to a creative inspire amp for regular non BK sound (YouTube etc) - switch this off when using VR and BK otherwise it appears to disable the other audio out

set the output in windows to use Realtek speakers and setup to use just stereo out (not surround)

play some music with Groove and get the levels - you want to see the green signal light and no clipping

once you've verified the BK is working you can install voicemeeter and use the following

A1 - Pimax Headset WDM

A2 - RealTek speakers WDM

A3 - Nothing

leave all settings at 0db (double-click to get them to 0) dont worry about the left side of the voicemeeter - just the right side

this will combine the pimax headset and the buttkicker together

Yay!! UPDATE:

Got this working fine now thanks to all and Loribee. I found out also yesterday that now you don't actually need a 3rd party app like Chevolume or Voicemeeter, as there is a setting in the Fift audio settings which allows audio mirroring, but as i had voicemeeter i thought i might as well use that as it has easily accessible volume sliders. One important point that got this working very well indeed with voicemeeter was in the rift audio settings to select output to windows default, otherwise if left at Rift Headset, you tend to get it working but very flaky.

Now the Buttkicker Gamer2 works brilliant and adds a WHOLE new level to ED in rift. Feel the engine rumble, feel the kick as you hit boost, and man oh man those canon and railgun hits on your hull really do feel real now. All I can say IS double WOW!!

Thanks Loribee for your help and have some virtual rep from me as i can't rep you again until i spread some wasp0 love around the forum.

Those who are thinking of getting some sort of Vibration effect, whether it be the BK gamer2 or the vest type, then go-ahead and do it! It is a new level up to the rift experience.
