Oculus Rift at CES - 6 Jan

With the Oculus Rift team having their own display at CES 2015, do we think they will have something new to show? More Crescent Bay or perhaps CV1 beta?

i'd be keen to hear any news or rumours.

Crescent Bay demo, maybe some new demos from some various companies. They might have a CB with hand tracking module equipped (accessory?).

I don't think they will announce a launch date at CES. They might announce that they have a launch date announcement during Oculus Connect Conference this year though.

Secretly I'm hoping you're right, because if there is no launch announcement then I'll snap up the DK2. If I get 6 months out of it - then it's worth it.

I really hope they'll show some input concepts. I mean, they have the Xbox 360 controller team + Nimble on the case. Now is the time to show and tell developers what type of input they are developing for.

It's generally understood in the community that the actual Rift hardware is more or less settled on at this point. Sure, you can upgrade the screen, but the tracking is what really matters, and it's pretty damn solid even in the DK2. Of course there's a lot of work to be done on the OS side of things, but that does not really relate to the Rift it self.

Hopefully we'll get some insightful talks from Tom Forsyth or John Carmack.

@input. Google for The stem system, John Carmack already stated that that is the input type they waited for.

I would guess they will show the final Oculus build with the input device they have been working on. I would be surprised if its not similar to the nimble, since they acquired them not long ago. Either way im pumped to get something with more quality than the DK2... even though I fear how my gpu is going to handle it since I have judder now.

STEM has a few issues though. While having your hand tracked is neat, what we really need is finger tracking. What I'm imagining is a type of controller that hangs onto each hand, and then fingers tracked optically.

I've held the opinion for a while now, that buying a GPU atm. is a waste. I have a 770 GTX from last summer, gonna wait for CV1 release before I upgrade. There might be a better card out by then, or at least the prices will be a little more reasonable.
