Oculus Rift DK2 jaggies - Devs please HEEEELP!!!

OK, I'll try not to throw the toys out the pram here but will someone please tell me for the love of god what's up with the lack of anti-aliasing on the Oculus now? I've had a break of a couple of months or so and whereas before I would sit and just stare at my beautiful ship in the outfitting screen for ages, now I can't bear to look at it, all I see is flickering hard edges that move back and forth at the slightest movement of my head. It's so distracting that I've given up playing after only one stint out for one mission. The joy has just disappeared and I really can't see me playing the game in this condition. Please someone tell me that this is a known issue that is being addressed, Devs??? I have a great system and I'm running everything on maximum with super sampling too but it hardly makes a dent. I have a toy ready in each hand!

I've seen this come and go on my setup. I don't know what causes it. It seems to be related to either Nvidia driver updates or game updates, and it's definitely not the Oculus service, but I don't know what causes it or how to describe it better than you have already. It just looks like everything is horribly jagged, like really really bad aliasing. I bet you it goes away the next time you change or update your Nvidia drivers though, or the game updates.

I have never seen this personally!. Mind you when it comes to VR I am very much if it is not broke do not fix it camp, and have not updated my drivers for my GPU in months (I think i am using the 1st GTA V optimised drivers but i am not near my machine to check 100% )

Thanks everyone for the comments so far, I'm slightly relieved now. I did find another post on Reddit before I went to bed that said the super sampling wouldn't work unless I had a value above 1.0 (I had just relied on the "Optimize" button in Ge-force Experience) and it did improve slightly when I went to 1.5 (2.0 was just a bit choppy on max settings). Thing is I never noticed jaggies this bad even on low presets before and with no SS or AA. I'll experiment a bit more to see if I can get things back to their former glory and let you folks know if I have anything to report. Hopefully it's just an intermittent issue that will resolve itself with another update or roll back as suggested. I'm almost afraid to go to a RES site now given what I've been reading about draw distance lately but I'll try not to pre-judge. Thanks again folks.

Mine looked horrible after last ED update. Just had to reinstall reshade. Have a look at that if you're using reshade. If you don't have reshade installed install it and use the sweetfx aa and sharpening.

If you have an SS value below 1.0 in game it will look awful. Try 1.0 in game with a custom res in nvidia control panel at about 1.25 if you can't go above 1.0.in-game.

Check your oculus quality slider.

Hmm. I think that's all I have. For me nothing major has changed with antialiasing since I joined before 1.3 - only updates overwriting my settings. Ive always been able to get it back.

Wow, has it really been a month already? Sorry meant to update sooner. For some reason when I set the graphics pre-set to low, something must have changed because the jaggies have now gone and I've pushed things back up to High pre-set with no noticeable effect on frame rate. Also upped draw distance to max and environment quality too as well as FX and material quality. When I last played before it didn't matter if my settings were on low or ultra I would get the same jitters in places so I thought it was just network issues and left everything on ultra but obviously the graphics side does have an effect even with two Titans. Thank goodness I don't have horrible jaggies from the orbit lines now (that was just the worst) and things are pretty much back to their former glory. I'm also going to try unticking the monitor in the Nvidia control panel as I read that can boost performance too.

I will try reshade as the jaggies kill it for me as they are bad. Floating outside the stations and the jaggy, shinning, moving lines kills it. Even in my cockpit panels are jaggy. So I need to dig in a bit more.

Can't say I experience what you describe. I run with SS at 1.5 and no AA (SS is superior to AA anyway and so makes it pretty much unnecessary or at least not worth it) with everything else up to max (except shadows - low, ambient occlusion - off). The SS is the bit that makes the most difference. I'd run it at 2.0 SS but the lag is just too much in stations and RES areas for my personal taste. I'm waiting for proper SLI VR support to be implemented so I can get another 980Ti.

Are you able to post a few pics of what it is you are experiencing?

Sorry I cannot replicate what happened before as it seemed to disappear when I changed settings, but if you can imagine absolutely no AA whatsoever then you're there. On the plus side I'm now running in full ultra at 1.0 SS after unticking my monitor as suggested. Even in stations things are fine, the only (slightly) noticeable slowdown being when I was in a particularly beautiful RES site with ambient light coming through the mist and a lot of ships in a firefight. It was another literal jaw drop, even after all this time playing, which I love about this game. Best, game, ever!
