Oculus rift DK2 - No position tracking camera?

Hi all!
I wonder if I can use Oculus Rift DK2 without position tracking camera.

Is it really necessary?
Is it still possible to use Oculus without it?
Will Oculus still track my head movements?
How this camera affects your experience in Elite Dangerous?

When I first bought my DK2 the jack socket for the camera was broken, so I used it without. It works but it was only after I repaired the camera socket that I saw a huge difference in the colour and quality of the image.
So yes it works without but its better with.

Ok! That was the question to next question.
I'm planning to by Deepoon E2, 100% clone of Oculus Rift DK2 BUT without tracking camera. It has the sensors that tracks only movement of my head, no forward/backward, left/right strafe or downward/upward tracking. It works with oculus drivers.
Will I have the same washed-out colour? Or I can disable warning of camera's lost tracking in Oculus software settings? (sorry my English)
