Oculus Rift GTX 980 Ti, low framerate after Nivdia Drivers update

Recently peeps said that a new Driver from Nvidia (411.63, 19. Sep. 2018) made the game perform better. I tried it, and in the beginning it did. But recently, it more often gets stuttery and teary. Directly after a PC restart things are smooth, but opening some Windows in Oculus Dash and launching Chrome makes things more on the edge for me. I also tried ED.Affinity.exe in order to alocate 6 CPU cores to Elite and the other 2 to Oculus Services. But this only helped for a short while, and not always. Any tips and tricks besides downgrading the graphics settings? Which Drivers were most stable for you (esp. to the fellow GTX 980 Ti Users)?

EDIT: I downgraded to the 388.59 Drivers, which worked good for me before, but the problem still seems to persist. No matter how often I restart the PC and try out other Drivers, the problem surfaces again after a couple of minutes. Maybe its about something else? Yesterday I was able to play without FPS problems. Somehow only today my rig has major problems... What could it be? Any tricks to get more FPS? Maybe hardware problem? Dust?

Could be vram related? 6 gb right? And you have lots of stuff open? Check your vram while under load.

- sounds like it might be a co-incidence re the nvidia drivers
- Oculus update 1.31.0 was released starting 26 Sept. so perhaps that has caused it, check which version you are on
- try disabling Dash i.e. opt out of Core 2.0 Beta [EDIT: not 100% sure if you can disable it in 1.31.0 as supposedly Rift Core 2.0 is out of beta now...mine downloaded 1.31.0 and new firmware but reports 1.30.1???)
- always troubleshoot in VR using the lowest graphics settings possible i.e. Low or VR Low and use the same one every time. And don't run ANY other apps at the same time and that includes simple task-bar utilities
- check what background Windows processes are running and if any are hogging system resources
- make sure Game DVR is disabled (Settings->Gaming->Captures->Background recording set to Off)
- any issues playing in 2D?
- check for any other recent updates on your PC (ie. Windows and apps)
- you have checked your temps, right? (CPU and GPU specifically)
- personally I found 388.59 to cause judder in VR (just FYI I am using 399.24 with no issues on a 1080)
