Newcomer / Intro oculus rift stopping hyper drive HELP!

i can't seem to work out how to stop hyper drive i keep over shooting my destination i am using vr oculus rift

Hi!

Ok, first things first I'm guessing you mean supercruise?

There are 4 modes of flight in Elite - Normal space/Supercruise/Hyperspace/orbital
Supercruise flying from planet to planet
Hyperspace flying in between systems

Now thats out the way, do you mean you overshoot and have to loop around or do you mean you can't drop from Supercruise into normal space?
If you keep overshooting ignore your speed and distance to target. Instead focus on "time to target" and keep it at or above 7 seconds, you should cruise in smoothly.
If you are unable to drop out check your key bindings, it should be the same as engage frame shift drive that you used to get into supercruise in the first place.

If none of this helps see if you can describe it differently, I hope I've understood correctly but I'm not 100% sure :)

i am doing my first mission to get my first 10000 credits i lock on to azeban city start Supercruise (thank you for expalining that as well ) :) before i get to the place i am going to a message comes reading safe to slow down or something like that i take my throttle down to 0 but i am still going 200kms and it overshoots the planet / city i am going to.

having said that i hope that explains it better.

so i am guessing from what your saying i need to check my key bindings see if that helps

thanks again!!!

Ah ok, makes sense, supercruise isn't the easiest to get first time around :)

Yeah, speed in supercruise is hard to grasp, it's related directly to the nearest object's mass. The closer you are the slower you go. The more mass the object near you has the slower you go. There's a red slow down indicator when you are approaching high mass objects much quicker than the intended speed for that distance.
Best advices is as above, keep time to target about 7 seconds (Info on how to target things in next pgh).

There is also a safe to disengage that comes up if your direction, speed and distance are all in the blue (alignment is a blue/orange box) <- All bottom left when targeting an object. For the station you can use the left hand menu panel and go into navigation and scroll down the list to ensure you have it targeted and get the approach screen.

Then you should be able to press the same key/binding you entered supercruise with which will drop you out within ~10kms of the object you are targeting.

Feel free to ask further questions if anything doesn't work. Youtube tutorials and gameplay videos are fantastic with this kind of stuff too if you want more visual help :)
