Oculus rift. Turn off so I can install Voice Attack control keybinds.

G'day all.
I run the Oculus Rift on a dedicated PC, so that in can be tuned on and boots up with the Oculus Rift headset running.
I run the ED profiler by Dr Kai (thankyyou) in medium VR settings.
I have just purchased Voice Attack and the voice Obsinion.

I now wish to load ED in 2D (onscreen only so I can change the key bindings, as I am sure you will agree they are a pain to try and change in the headset.
I have set the Oculus program to admin only so it does not boot up every time ED does.

But I cannot get ED to come onscreen in 2D, the client window comes up and shows the same image in the headset.
I have tried to use the 2D setting in the ED profiler, but I get a red box around the profiler and when I hit apply the following is displayed
"Some of your setting files have errors that EDProfiler can't cope with, Please close EDProfiler , start the game and change a setting"

WHAT SETTING?
Yes I did delete Ed profiler and downloaded a new copy.
I will also send a letter of to Dr Kaii, but I thought I would ask here first before bothering him.

Cheers all, appreciate any assistance

If you're running ED from inside Oculus, there should be a "desktop" option that should start up the game without VR, accessible via right click on the ED icon. If you're running the game from outside Oculus, make a copy of the launcher shortcut and edit it. Add "/novr" to the command line and start the game with this setting if you want 2D only. Apart from that, VR on/off can also be configured via the HMD (headphones) option in ED graphics settings. It should be set to VR/3D 'off' in ED profiler for the 2D settings.

After checking, ED Profiler behaves weird for me too, complaining about corrupt configurations and the like (I run stock ED on the notebook, though). After creating a new 2D profile and multiple tries, the errors finally vanished. Hope that ED still runs :)

@Gaffa
Please let us know if you find a solution.. I've been floating around in the same boat for ages (-:

Start up ED as normal in VR, then go to Options > Graphics and in the 3D setting select none (in place of whichever HMD option is currently selected). Click apply and you will be in 2D mode on your monitor.

It will be the windowed mode that runs when you are playing in VR, and if you want you can change things around there for a better (fullscreen) view. No need to restart the game or anything, and when you are done just set the 3D setting back to your HMD and you'll be back in VR.

I play ED in non-VR so rarely, this is what I do if I want to do something without the headset. Last time I did it was to sell exploration data... :)

On Oculus home (the desktop version), you should be able to click on the menu button that is in the Elite icon. There is an option to start Elite in desktop mode. That is the way I have gotten it to work. Every other way gave me the same results as you.
