Oculus rift vs HTC questions

I built the following computer and I'm running the Oculus rift on ultra with zero issues. It has been plug and play.

CPU: i7 6700 not over clocked
GPU: 1080 Gigabyte
16 GB Ram
SSD card

will the Vive handle ultra too?

I would say that as long your supersampling is at 1 and Steam render target is left at default (1) then yes, but it will look like garbage. I have to wonder why do you ask?

PS the above answer is regarding version 2.1 .. There has been some reports that 2.2 can cause issues, but until it goes live I won't be able to comment as I'm not buying anything from Frontier until they fix Vive support. Which might mean no more money from me to FD for quite some time, considering that it has been over 6 months since the issue was pointed out to them and as far as I know they haven't even fixed the mip mapping for textures which was pointed out to them with exact examples, so I really don't hold my breath any more.

I'm curious because I might get the vive this week to try out. My other question is: Can I just do sitting for now in the vive?

I'm hardwiring my house soon, so I will eventually want room scale VR...

I have an I7 6700k, 16g ram@2800, SSD and A GTX1080.. I set everything to it's max except for the pixel density which I set to 1.8.. super smooth, couldnt be happier.

since we have similar systems, just opposite VR, what do the complaints mean that scale is off? Also, even with the rift, I can walk around the cockpit, just not as far as Vive users.

Also, I wear glasses and the rift seems ok to me, it gets hot, so I usually take breaks in my game playing. I did 3 hours last night with zero issues. I was more of the problem than the computer/VR. I needed things like water and the bathroom!!! They cannot simulate everything:)

I've never looked into a vive so I would not be the one to ask. sry.
